I’ve been in Florida all winter living in my camper trailer all by myself happy as a clam. I met a waitress at the breakfast place I like to eat. I flirted with her and got to know her. I took her out to a cookout at the Masons, dinner and movies, and a bluegrass concert. One weekend we drove over to St Augustine and spent the night in a B&B. She’s younger than me. Late 40’s been divorced for years. Two kids two grandkids. I made it very clear that I was going home the first week of March, but I plan to come back in December . Tonight she calls and wants me to take her home to Ohio with me. I was dumbfounded! I said, “we haven’t known each other near long enough to live together.” Why would you leave your family, to run off with a man you hardly know, to a place you’ve never been?” She gets mad and says “I was good enough for you to take to bed but I’m not good enough to live with you” You’re just going to dump me here living in this crummy apartment when you have a nice big house all to yourself in Ohio. ( So as usual it’s about money) I told her we’ll keep in touch and I’ll be back in December but I’m not taking you back to Ohio. She ” Fine” in a huff and hung up the phone.
I’d planned to leave Saturday but now I’m leaving first thing in the morning. I don’t what the hell she’s libel to do. This is what I get for being nice.

I’m not about to tell you what to do in retirement. When I read the title I was worried Swimcat was in a fix. In fact it sounds like he has it all under control. He didn’t slip up and take her back home.
A woman that age is not worth investing in. Her fertility is used up and she has children and grandchildren to be loyal to. She may be good company but there would be so much more to lose than to gain by taking her on as a rent free housemate.
She may well have been seizing on to attractive solvent guys who come to her place of work for years. Women that age find it almost impossible to innovate. If you drive by in June and just watch you may see another guy taking her out. If he won’t take her home, she will be available for company in December again.
I would say that while it is a head ache, Swimcat has got what he wanted from the interaction and lost little. She also got what she wanted from the interaction, just not more than she deserved. Both got fair value.

I did run. After I posted last night I hooked up the camper to the truck and drove all night. I’m at a rest area in Tennessee. I ate some breakfast and now I’m going to bed.
