My last big trip was in 2005, travelled from Colorado to Nebraska > Wyoming > Utah > Arizona > New Mexico back to Colorado, all that in 8 days. I wanted to see some places in real life, like; Carhenge, Devils Tower, Moab, Bonneville Salt Flats, White Sands…, and suck up the flavour. Stood in motels on the way ~40$ a night. Been alone and it was one of the coolest vacations I ever had, with a nice 4WD so I could go off road to explore and have some fun.
Next time might even camp to save money and thus stay for 4 weeks to get to know my birthplace a little better.
I love road trips, all in all I did 5800 mls in those 8 days since I had to bridge great distances and the farther I got the smaller my troubles got.
Next time I´ll try to take it slower to have more time to look around. Driving a car in the States is so much more relaxed than here in Germany,it brought back the fun I had when I was 18 and had my first own car.

It really depends what are your interests. You have sports where you can join organized activity in foreign country or foreign place and there you go, adventure while risks are still under control.

You can go step further, pick your transportation device of choice and go.

Adventures are a good way to recharge and reconnect with your base.

I need to go on a real vacation, go somewhere, do something.

A cruise seems so blue pill.

What have you done? Where did you go?

I’ve traveled & done volunteer work in latin america. Teaching English. Rebuilding an elementary school. Teaching disabled kids to ride horses. Slinging food in a soup kitchen. El Salvador. Argentina. Colombia. Costa Rica. Brazil. Others. It’s a great change of perspective. And almost everyone that volunteers is altruistic in the original sense – giving their own time & money to help others.

It may be worth looking at something local – a local adventure to get you out of your comfort zone, so to speak. I have done, or will soon do all of the following:
    – Dance lessons – it’s actually fun. I’d recommend Tango or Salsa.
    – Cooking classes – i enjoy making my own food, but all from youtube
    – Improv acting class – being social & all that s~~~
    – Physical combat training – MMA, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, boxing, whatever.

Such a happy time leaving right from work…. DEEP woods.

Glad to see you’re back brother. Sounds like you had a good time.

I need to go on a real vacation, go somewhere, do something.

On a motorcycle, every day is a vacation. Vacations on a motorcycle are even better.

A cruise seems so blue pill.

Going on a cruise is like paying to be stuck in the hotel all day. My idea of a vacation is getting away from people, not being stuck in a sardine can with them.

What have you done? Where did you go?

I hike and I climb. Mostly just day trips, but occasionally I’ll load up a bike and go somewhere to hike and climb.

It’s a little late in the year, but you might look into volunteering for an archaeological or paleontological dig, or as I like to call it: “Digging with nerds.”
