Ok, come down from your cloud, man. It sounds all very utopian.

Technology causes more trouble than it solves.

Think about your cooking robot: will it go and buy the veggies and then cut them and put it on your plate ? NO !

The veggies will need to be loaded in the robot. What happens when it jams ? Or when it breaks ? Is dinner ready ? No, there’s a port clogged with salami… so you’re now hungrier than ever.

It’ll be super expensive which means you’ll need to work a lot of overtime to be able to pay for it, the maintenance and all that shiite.

Plus think about planned obsolescence. Just like (almost) everything built today, it is designed to break or fail after a while (usually not too long after the warranty is up) and also be unserviceable. It won’t be different.

And imagine all the possible issues if it connected to the internet in permanence. Possible cracking, data mining, surveillance. What makes you think it will be different ?

    You watch too much sci-fi.

Like Thoreau said: “Simplify, simplify, simplify !”

Think of what the smartphone has created. BILLIONS of brain-dead zombies making life intolerable for the rest of us.

    I second that.

The main problem I see with smartphones is the abusive tracking and spying of people.

We only need a small switch in the government and we get the worst tyrannical dystopia ever imagined in sci-fi.

Even 1984 had only a fixed tv to spy in people’s houses (like the smarttv). Smartphones are everywhere.

Totally agree, people give Big Tech way more credit than it deserves. Theyre exhilarated by futuresque themes. Theres a practical disconnect many dont see, between the limits of technology and our everyday fleshly lives.

Yup. Smartphones certainly are monitored by the ABC Agencies. At will, a spook could monitor you completely via hacking one. Mostly though, they dont care what folks are up to. All men use them for whacking off, and women use them to post even more voluntary data about themselves and their families…

You guys seen the commercial where the C U NT is talking about how the phone has more information on it than anything in your home? LOL. Women live on the damn things, an open book.

Not sure if it was here, or chatting with a male friend of mine. We were talking about Police having to deal with women’s domestic violence accusations (which we all know are 90% FAKE) but he said that the way Police get women to shut-up about their fake DV accusation is they ask for her phone! The ones that are trying to con men never give it up, its their whole world! Their entire identity is a 4 inch rectangular Big Brother device which theyre addicted to. When confronted with the possibility that police need to confiscate it and view her data in connection to a DV report, they balk!

Yup, the guy glosses over real world problems like power outages, corrupted/outdated map files, bad sensors, potholes at 150mph… or when your car decides to sacrifice you so a bus full of schoolkids can survive…? And he wants it on the cheap too.

Utopias are what teenage idealists and older libtards who never grew up fantasize about. People are bu nature bad and corrupt easily, things break down and don’t work as planned, society then clamps down on people exposing the problems, we never build utopias, just dystopias.

Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

Compared to marriage mgtow is nirvana. As long as you fly under the radar it is a trouble free life.

    add a point.
There is always going to be a George Soros with any means possible to reach goal attitude. Odds are when an AI comes on line it will be more like Person of Interest then Terminator. A one world over through slow manipulation. The real fear is that one person is Xi Jinping. China is pushing AI faster then anyone and putting it to use now on a massive scale inside China. Communism, child’s play next to what direction China’s AI is taking.

WE TELL machines what to do, they dont think on their own. Real AI will hardly be approachable even centuries from now, and will never be a threat to anything. For example. There will never be solely autonomous robots that can mine and refine their own metals and build their own armies, such is the imagination of sci-fi writers, not 22nd Century Earth. Could it happen someday, yes, but many centuries from now. We lack the brilliance to truly create REAL Artificial Intelligence. That term is bandied about to provoke emotional, awe-inspiring support. Its a buzz word.

    Hey GP……
That “DAY” has BEEN HERE for awhile now. Robots use a simple process to eliminate that which does not matter using logic.
These robot developers abuse the heck out of this robot, until it figures the outcome all on its own using logic and prior memory of similar events.
    Check it out…..

And this is simple robotics. scary stuff.

Marry again, Hell NO ! ( Even JESUS was hung on a cross just once)

    IMHO
AI is a highly romanticized misnomer used because Advanced Automated Programming just doesn’t sound so “sexy”. It also gives a misleading idea/narrative of its actual functional capabilities.
The term non human intelligence can’t be used as the data MUST/CAN NOT be human in nature. There goes the programming of human knowledge into a machine for it’s “use”.
The basis of the name and narrative is exactly what it 100% is, and is NOT:
    1. Artificial = fake, pretend, not real, not inherent to the individual nor collective of said entity/species (living or nonliving).
    2. Intelligence = the collective ever expanding sum of internalized information that is organically and intuitively interpreted and utilized by a living organism that will gradually degrade over time.
    3. A sentient/living organism. It is NOT.
Cut the electrical power to hard drive, or a living brain for that matter, and that “intelligence” ceases to exist in that entity.
Data storage and retrieval is not “intelligence”.
