Have you done online dating and concluded that it is a waste of time?

At one time or another, I have tried plentyoffish.com, okcupid.com, and was even dumb enough to pay for a month of match.com (and ended up being ripped off and having to pay for a second month). As much as I hate to admit it, for awhile, it was somewhat of an addiction – having access to so many women at once.

Of all of the conversations I’ve been involved with and messages exchanged on these sites, I’ve been on a number of first dates and only one second date. I’d say at least half of these women were fatter and/or older than they looked in their pics.

I wonder if most of the women on these sites don’t just troll these sites for attention. I’m fit, in shape, have a decent job, look younger than my age and the type of women I run into (at least in my area which is not a big city) are nearly all single moms, divorced or obese (or all of the above). I have to expand my search to 100 miles+ just to find women not in the above categories. And even these women with tons of baggage are arrogant and entitled. Even if not, I find myself having to carry nearly every conversation.

It’s been a total waste of time. Have any of you spent time on these sites and came to this same conclusion?

You’re describing dating in general, not just online dating. I live in NYC where the dating pool is huge. There are some fit women that are entitled; there are also a ton of fatasses & single moms that are also entitled.

I spend a moment here and there on a dating site just to read their crap and remind myself of the endless sea of garbage and bulls~~~ them weeminz are capable of producing just when you thought they could produce no more. One of my favorites is “Love to travel” that’s about as big a red flag as you can have, yet they keep dishing stuff out like that endlessly thinking that some sap will go “Wonderful! I could use a vacation to an exotic place myself.” The list is endless… Lies, deceit, doctored photographs, fake-up an inch thick, no full-body pics, on and on.

Know when it is your duty to give them zero explanations for your actions.

@mattnyc – I used to think that I was missing out by not living in a big city. If I only lived in a large city like NYC, LA, or Chicago, I would have access to “higher quality” women and be able to find what I am looking for. I guess the grass is not greener.

Never did online dating but I helped a couple of guys with their intro and recommending the right attitude, and they got a lot of dates and had sex with some of them.
You seem quite confused about what you want from dating:
“Decent job” / money = irrelevant unless you’re looking for a “serious” relations~~~. One of the guys I helped live with his parents, he’s still university student, have zero income and his parents aren’t rich, quite the opposite.

A suggestion is: DON’T GENERALLY LIE ABOUT YOURSELF, HIGHLIGHT YOUR DEFECTS AND JOKE ABOUT IT + LIE, BLATANTLY, ABOUT SOMETHING SHE CANNOT VERIFY BUT SHE’S REALLY INTERESTED IN.
