Anonymous43all good suggestions.
Yes, I am thinking about adult training. I have run across many former teachers who now do corporate training.
I don’t think adults will run and dive for the floor when someone spills powdered spicy candy, and lick and sniff the floor when several parents and infant children are in the room for just an hour. It was parent day, lunch with the kids then an hour in the classroom. One of my kids threw food on a parent at lunch…not good, then the candy thing. I was going to evacuate the class and pull the fire alarm…unknown powered substance in my room, wtf is this s~~~? Poison? pesticide? I don’t know. Candy, Really?
I was absolutely mortified that day. I thought I was fired that afternoon. F~~~. Kids crashing into desks, throwing chairs and pulling each other out of the way for a handful of Mexican s~~~ candy. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. Those parents ran out of the room with their smaller children- one was a 4 month old in a stroller, and the grandmothers stopped in at the office and complained.
One of these kids got in huge trouble for f~~~ing around during a fire drill, yelling how he was on fire and we were all going to die. WTAF!!!!!!!!!!!!! are you kidding me? There was a meeting with the kid, Mom, Principal, 2 teachers, a policeman and the town fire marshal for 2 hours a couple days later. Did the kid learn anything? nope, still f~~~ing around in class later that day.
Something bad is going to happen there, and I won’t be there to see it or get caught up in the resulting vortex of s~~~. I plan on being far away from here by the end of the week.

Anonymous43Not my problem…I just picked up the last couple things in my room that belong to me.
Principal thought it was weird I had 4 things to pick up. I took everything home after the little crumb crunchers stole the candy. I had a mouse, a couple notebooks, a sweatshirt and a winter hat.
The $2200 in books, music, and other things went home last week. They can keep my Christmas Tree.
In and out in 2 minutes.
I agree Pete

Wow that sounds like a war zone. Getting canned may be a blessing in disguise. I could not tolerate a bunch of snarky brats all day. Hope you land on your feet bro. Here’s to a brighter future.
Get you out of that gynocentric s~~~ show we know as public “edukashun”.
Teach at a Catholic school—someplace the kids can have the s~~~ beat out of them.
Word. I teach in the private sector, Catholic high school. Teaching is my passion, but I would never teach at a public school. If the administration doesn’t give you the power you need to control the kids, what’s the point? I’m a tough and nasty bastard and I don’t put up with any s~~~. My students are the best behaved in the school because they know I’ll f~~~ing fail them for the year just for talking back to me.
Women are better at multitasking? Fucking up several things at once is not multitasking.

educationtraining. I do corporate training and I love it. Learn a software inside and out like Word or Excel. Safety training. Sales training is always in demand. That’s what I did before I retired. What I found was that if they were remedial students in high school they were remedial students in the corporate arena as well. The main difference was that if they did not pass the training they were not employable or did not get promoted. There always has to be a stick with some people.
all good suggestions.

Discipline, intimidation, and humanity. Are the behavior pot for resilient existence. Simple ingredients for a people.that won’t cook to save themselves.

It definitely has it’s challenges. I’ll take it over teaching kids and putting up with school a system that is clearly failing. I get more problems from the bosses than I do the students. Then again who doesn’t.

That’s funny to me because I used that as an ice breaker. I would whack the projector screen with a wooden pointer and watch who jumped. Then say ‘Whoever jumped must have went to Catholic school’. It got everyone’s attention with laugh. I can’t do it any more with the touch screens. There is another bonus with corporate training, they have resources. You’re never sharing books or in need of supplies.

Anonymous43I was shown all the testing data, September, January and April.
Kids are ranked in terms of percentile…the number of people scoring worse than you.
I was told that our classes were balanced…our classroom averages was supposed to be 50. 50 meaning grade level. one of my “smart” kids has been out and missed 2 testing cycles. A couple smart kids moved, and I picked up some real clinkers.my class average is 28.5%. I have one super genius, 4 really smart kids, a couple about average, the rest (18) are 20 and below. 6 are 1%. my class scores above 28.5% above all classes taking the test. 28.5 from the bottom. That is 2nd grade reading level.
Statistically I was f~~~ed. my top kids didn’t or couldn’t improve, lowest kids stayed in the s~~~ter and the middle moved up 3 points at best. F~~~.
I think someone stacked my deck before I got there so the established teachers could stay. The new guy, f~~~ him over, and dump him before the end of the year.
Hmmm red pill for education too? I think so.
may,
it’s a blessing in disguise.
embrace the future,
without those little asshole kid’s!!!I think someone stacked my deck before I got there so the established teachers could stay.
Just last month, this is exactly what a friend of mine told me who was in the same situation you are in now. She had a class with a collection of the worst kids in the entire school (third grade). Apparently, this class’ reputation for poor performance and test scores was out, and so not a single full time or substitute teacher in the county would take that class. But she was desperate for work and so took it.
She quit before she could could be fired, and was so thankful she did. Not a week later, a job she’d interviewed for six months earlier called her and told her she could come to work for them.
She made $10.00/hr as a teacher with a masters degree, and now she’ll be making $40.00/hr as a procedural writer for a huge defense contractor. She’s set for the rest of her life now.
Hope that gives you some hope. Hang in there.
You might want to consider teaching abroad. Licensed teachers from western countries are in high demand and can make great money. I recommend the gulf countries. I teach in Kuwait myself.
I bathe in the tears of single moms.

Anonymous43so many better options.
Thank you all. I’m still feeling dopey from shock. Tomorrow I meet with some useful idiot to give me my go the f~~~ away package.
Would anyone like some furniture? I can’t take it with me…I bought furniture and never used it, I sat on the couch once for 90 minutes, and the chair I sat in to take a phone call from my mom telling me dad died. I have some tables and a desk and a book case. I bought this so it would look like I had a normal home to impress my coworkers who never came over and I’ll never see again. Show up with a truck this week and it’s all yours. lol
Just got fired. I can’t control my classroom
Sounds like you were fired without “cause”. First stop the unemployment office, second stop SNAB benefits. Fight those f~~~ers as hard as you can. Then keep looking. You have been waiting your time trying to teach the unreachable. Don’t give up on your career over some c~~~s bastards.
Commiserations my friend, but look on the bright side, you’re out of the warzone now 🙂 you got dealt a bad hand, don’t blame people without truth, could have been chance.
