I think I see what you are talking about. I think that your answer to losing everything that you’ve listed is to have a woman.

I used to do that. It never worked for me though. I always seemed to have a drought of women when I was in the dumps about life. So I learned to not do that anymore.

I don’t know brother, haven’t you ever felt a spark to create or build something?

My spark was to start trying to fix everything myself. I started buying tools and started fixing things around my house and also started learning to work on my truck. Maybe you’re past the age for some of this.

What about learning sign language? That seems like the first thing I would do. We are humans and even the most nomadic and biggest outcasts of us crave human interaction of some sort. If you had some groups to sign with you could probably derive some satisfaction.

What about volunteering to help some poor assholes? I know some people that do that and no one would fault you for being deaf if you are giving of yourself.

I like being alone often. I have a child that I see pretty often though. The situation gives me the right mix of alone time and people time.

Learning to sign is a life-long enterprise. Not as easy as learning a new language.

Oh, yeah. I used to get quite involved with building houses. I would buy fixer-uppers, completely renovate them and then flip them. It’s how I made my money to travel the globe. Been there, done that.

When I lived in Asia, I’d get a beautiful 20 year-old for the night and I was good to go. Or, I’d call up a good massage girl and she’d come to my place and take care of me. In Mexico, they don’t have the 1st clue about how to give a good massage. And, most of the girls in Mexico are butt ugly. They’d have to pay me to f~~~ them.

Perhaps the Asian girls spoiled me. I’ve had the best of the best and I’m not interested in the rest.

For me, one of the biggest problems is finding intelligent people. You’d be surprised to know how many guys are only interested in getting drunk and damn little else. Start talking to them about ancient history, or the origins of the human species, and their eyes glaze over. Haha.

I hear that…pun intended. Good to know you brother.

I don’t know much about ASL but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t take a lifetime since I knew deaf kids in grade school that used it fluently. But at your age, I don’t know if it’s worth taking up an endeavor that would still take several years.

Sounds like you’ve lived quite the life. I’m impressed. I tip my hat to you sir. You’ve lived the life that many of us here could only wish for.

In regard to finding intellectuals to converse with, I think that I understand your pain on that one. I think your best bet would be forums/groups on the internet even if you weren’t deaf. Neither men nor women in general find ancient history, etc, to be interesting.

Granted, I’m over 30 years younger then you Rameses and could be your son, but I’d like to provide a little advice that echoes a lot of what been said here.

Life is short, and while I wish you another 20 years of life, statistically you have far less than that. Don’t waste it feeling “lonely”. It’s natural to feel lonely sometimes, but if it’s all consuming things need a little tweak; you need to change your perspective.

I would suggest some hobbies that involve group dynamics and stimulate socialization. While it might sound a little geeky, live RPG games like D&D (Dungeons and Dragons), stimulate the mind by telling stories, socializing, and exercising analytical thinking due to the massive amount of rules to interpret. My group has a few players in there early 70s and they seem to enjoy it.

A few members have been hearing impaired and we have gotten around that by placing text of a digital device.

I’m an ancient history buff and enjoy chatting about evolution, dinosaurs and science. Feel free to PM me anytime to chat. There is a book entitled “Curse of the High IQ”. I recommend it. Society was built for people with average IQs and for those on the higher end of the bell curve, it can be a curse to live in everyday society.

I completely shut out the naysayers. It’s been my experience that the detractors of things that are interesting or constructive are usually doing nothing except bitching about what everyone else is doing around them. All the while expecting somebody to entertain them while spewing drama. Then they cry and whine why nobody wants to be around them – gee I wonder why?

What if they are relatives or close family members?

Personally, I believe that we are merely accidents of birth. In the scheme of things, we are born, we live for awhile, and then die. That’s it. Period !

It is an illusion that any of us have any importance, what-so-ever. If I died today, not one single person would ever know (except for the stranger who found me and the stranger who cremated me). Not feeling sorry for myself. It’s just reality.

Sometimes I ask myself who baked Caesar’s bread ? Impossible to ever know. As far as we are concerned, it is as if he never existed.
