Both were great to me as a kid when they cost between a dime and fifteen cents. I came into the scene at the twelve cent level, but the dime mags were readily available as well. They were some great comics. Not so many ads and the artwork was fantastic. I used to collect returnables to buy them and moved up to mowing and shoveling or whatever else could be done by me for my neighbors. You could often find me waiting at the local dealer’s store for them to be unpacked so I had first choice. As an added bonus, I quickly learned the value of work and money, two concepts that have followed me through a life time of self-employment. I don’t attend movies any more and can only guess that I would thoroughly despise what Dc and Marvel have become. To more aptly answer the question, I didn’t take them seriously even when I loved them, I took the work and money needed to get them seriously. I don’t give any thought to what Disney produces at all. Hopefully they will never ruin my memory of “The Silver Surfer” series, a personal fave. I have always identified with the loner type hero, and to me, that one defined it.
I’ve ended up having to be a DC supporter by default.
Was no decision of mine, but DC bought the Hellblazer series five years ago and is now responsible for producing the new comics. So if I want to keep seeing more of my idol, I have to buy those. To be fair, they’re not too bad. The artwork is decent and there are some enticing storylines. Though personally – and I’m sure that most Constantine fans will agree with me here – I thought that the series was better back when it was still with Vertigo; Alan Moore and Jamie Delano did some of the series’ best writing.
But do I take it seriously, no. I just see it as a cash cow which happens to be the only remaining provider of my favourite comic.

No.
Movie directors should let their audience grow up with the person they choose to play a character
That’s why I loved the Harry Potter franchise so much. It did exactly that. Hell, I’m only a few months younger than Daniel Radcliff.

You never wanna see the remake of the Fantastic Four movie then. The Silver Surfer was a horrible character in the sequel.
I sold all my comics and im never buying another one. I was tired of lugging that s~~~ around anyways. Hollywood gets not a penny of my money any more.
DC and Marvel can’t stack up to Dark Horse these days.
It’s a damn shame Screw On Head never became a TV series.
I have gave up of the Marvel and DC for a long time! I only buy manga now, I have the complete collection of pokemon black and white and now I collecting the fate/stay night series, along with the new ultraman. I also have two mangas of the world of warcraft, but this two I bought when the sjw madness that we have now, was non-existent.
I became a MGTOW because this was the only logical solution for a man survive in a world replete of gynocentrism and biased against men!
This is why it surprised me so many Americans were against Obamacare, IMO it’s the one good thing he’s done besides taking out Bin Laden.
Here in Canada we pay monthly premiums based on income in some provinces, others are free so all major surgery is covered just things like vision(prescriptive) and dental are not.
We are still a market based economy too but seem to have a better social safety net for our poorest.
I believe patents on prescription drugs are less time as well.
Let’s see how much they f~~~ up with the TPP though.
If government healthcare were such a great deal, it would be 100% voluntary, on an opt in basis for both coverage and payment. But it’s not, because it isn’t. You notice none of the countries that have it allow people to opt out and pay for their own private coverage without forcing them to continue to pay into the government system. It’s a ponzi scheme that eventually turns to rationing of care once your birth rate fails to produce enough healthy young people to be taxed for coverage they don’t need and you hit the tax threshold beyond which the economy cannot sustain the burden of “free.” But it’s a moot point…freedom is fading in the west, and government absorbing ever-larger portions of the economy is but a symptom. The people are the problem; something for nothing always comes back to bite you eventually. Maybe you get lucky and the can is kicked down the road for the rest of your individual lifetime, but the piper will be paid in time.
[W]e are MGTOW. We eat shaming language like tic tacs.

I have known more men destroyed by the desire to have wife and child and to keep them in comfort than I have seen destroyed by drink and harlots.
