I’ve been on the fence about this for the last couple of weeks. I loved Suicide Squad and plan on seeing Doctor Strange when it comes out. However, I’ve noticed that both companies are headed down the SJW bulls~~~ road.

With Wonder Woman making a scene in the DC universe, I can only imagine how many feminist c~~~s will end up making that movie a complete man-bashing fest.

Not only that, the new Captain Marvel will be coming out within the next couple of years. Knowing Marvel, they’ll just give her character the vagina pass as well.

But does anyone here actually give a f~~~ about these companies anymore? I really don’t mind strong female characters. However, I hate the way western media portrays female characters. They always end up giving them the vagina pass while allowing them to one-shot kill men without any effort at all.

Just look at the series Agent Carter. Or Supergirl and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Not only that, whenever they’re fighting or competing with men in these series and movies, the men always lose. For f~~~s sake, at least make the fight between believable.

I’ve come to hate these companies in general even though I still like very few of their products (like Dr. Strange).

Thor is a chick. Iron man is a college girl.

Just more entities that Hollywood has bought up to repackage and sell to the masses with their SJW narrative and subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, propaganda.

Nope, don’t care. Sorta thought they were cool growing up, something for guys and maybe the occasional “cool” girl.

Once they introduced the SJW(ish) bulls~~~ to the total exclusion of what made them cool for guys, they completely lost me.

Remember that Marvel (and DC as well I think) are both owned by a company that made billions by selling princess crap to wannabe princesses. Thus it makes perfect free market capitalist sense to sell your product to a market and in a form that will generate maximum revenue.

This is a perfect example of Adam Smith gone awry, but things are exactly as they should be.

Where I have a problem with it is when you’re in a life or death (healthcare) situation and we allow private businesses to apply demand pricing at this point.

“Your money or your life” is no my idea of a free market, but when you allow unregulated capitalism to come to its predictable consolidated conclusion, you always end up with monopoly/oligopoly.

Even in entertainment, 100 year copyrights have killed any and all creative works that may have come from existing cultural icons. I’m for private property, but if you produce something intended for wide consumption by the general pubic and adoption into the common culture, the rules should be a little different.

So even though these characters have been around for decades, if you wanted to do your own thing with them, you’re forbidden unless you get permission from the masters.

Copyright control originally intended to stimulate creativity now being used as a club to stop it and keep our shared culture firmly in the control of a few entities. 100 year copyrights are an insult.

So ya, I could kind of give a s~~~ about Disney’s latest product since they’re the ones that bribed congress into passing the current copyright laws.

One of my coworkers is a hard core Thor nut. When he saw the female Thor I thought he was gonna throw up for real.

I won’t buy Marvel anymore. The pages are boring and full of estrogen.

The only one I have any respect for is the new Hulk. Now that Hawkeye put an arrow through Banner’s eyeball and into his brain. Preeetty final. But Banner has come back from head trauma before.

I agree with that completely. Marvel and DC are both trash.

Thor is a chick. Iron man is a college girl.

    They don’t want our money.

One of my coworkers is a hard core Thor nut. When he saw the female Thor I thought he was gonna throw up for real.

I heard about that as well. Making Thor a girl and Ironman a woman is a completely stupid idea. Most women/SJWs aren’t even hardcore fans of Marvel and DC.

Once they introduced the SJW(ish) bulls~~~ to the total exclusion of what made them cool for guys, they completely lost me.

That’s the way I felt about it. Especially when they introduced Agent Carter. I was never a big reader of the comics growing up, so I was pretty slow to know about the whole SJW infestation of DC and Marvel.

I believe the last superhero movie I watched was the first Spiderman which was pretty good and true to the original.

It seems only in the last few years it has gone awry.

They will only alienate their fan base just like the remakes of
Star Trek and Star Wars did.

So even though these characters have been around for decades, if you wanted to do your own thing with them, you’re forbidden unless you get permission from the masters.

So why would they give permission to totally f~~~ them up?
Lagging market share and the almighty dollar perhaps?

This is why it surprised me so many Americans were against Obamacare, IMO it’s the one good thing he’s done besides taking out Bin Laden.

Here in Canada we pay monthly premiums based on income in some provinces, others are free so all major surgery is covered just things like vision(prescriptive) and dental are not.

We are still a market based economy too but seem to have a better social safety net for our poorest.

I believe patents on prescription drugs are less time as well.

Let’s see how much they f~~~ up with the TPP though.

Obamacare was going to happen even if Romney had won. The only difference is that it would have been called Romneycare… You know, like the healthcare system named Romneycare that he had in the state he was governor of well before the 2012 election. So I don’t know how much credit you can give Obama on that one.

Also, if you believe the Obama administration got Bin Laden then shoved him overboard half way back to the U.S. then I got some land on the moon I would like to sell ya.

It’s the new owners. Disney bought them, now they can “princessify” all the superheros too.

Actually, it might not be so terrible on second thought. That graphic KM put on the sidebar of Barbie vs. He-Man summed it up for me, but maybe if women/girls are forcibly compared to Wonder Woman or whoever, it might give them a real taste of what living up to impossible standards/images is really like.

Modern superhero movie are a f~~~ing disgrace.

They take something that is super manly … and make it boring and forgettable … and then insert ads for more of the same.

Some of those movies are good. The Dark Knight was a masterpiece. Most of these superhero movies suck.

No no one takes them seriously. And a majority of movies are piles of s~~~. Only Marvel movies are worth admission price. And they are polite enough to keep the sjw s~~~ in the comics where no one wants to buy them.

I was never into comic books as a kid. When I was a teenager, some of my friends showed me their Spiderman comic books and I stared going to comic books stores with them. I got interested in buying comic books as an investment after seeing how valuable some of the old comic books were. After a while, I lost interest because certain comic books were created specifically for collectors and their value diminishes by people like me (who just want to make some money by keeping the first printing of a comic book in mint condition for 20 to 30 years).

When Batman came out with Jack Nicholson as The Joker, it was fun to watch. After that, I didn’t bother watching the sequels because they kept changing the main actors. They did the same thing with Spiderman. That was a fun movie to watch when Tobey Maguire was in it. After a few movies, they decided to remake it with a totally different actor. To me, that just ruins the purpose of making a movie series. Movie directors should let their audience grow up with the person they choose to play a character. Instead, they decided to write a totally different version of Spiderman with this douche-bag actor. Again, they did this with The Hulk instead of making a sequel with the same actor. Why? If you’re going to ignore the concept of continuity and keep recreating these characters, I’m not going to buy a movie ticket.
