It seems that a lot of people that are computer savvy smoke pot.We know the founders of Apple and Microsoft were. The FBI and now the Pentagon have found that the brightest and the best and a large chunk of Silicone Valley are 420 friendly

“We are changing that in recognition of the fact that times change and generations change,” he said. “And by the way, laws change as respecting marijuana and so forth.”

The last I heard, the military kicks recruits out of boot camp if they test positive for marijuana, or any other drug.

So the pentagon wants to hire people the army won’t let in?

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

The government is interested in hiring anybody except white, heterosexual, responsible, drug-free, able bodied, intelligent men.

There is no group of characteristics worse in America than that.

All the drug addicts, the alcoholics, the women, the single mothers, the thugs, those are praised in society.

I read that Steve Jobs did a lot more than pot on a visit to India when he was young.

Look at the Presidents that have admitted to doing
    that or worse.

I say let them all toke up,it might just slow down the out of control defence spending, lol

    Interesting..

I can’t do IT work while high that (temporary) short term memory thing interferes with my ability to hold 30 relationships in my brain at the same time. It’s like trying to write a program or design a database while being interrupted every five minutes. I can do it stinking drunk though.

There are a lot of smokers in IT from my observations. After a hard day of dealing with abusive asshole users, unrealistic deadlines, people who let problems fester until they become critical, and Id10Ts, a good bowl of 2 toke works miracles.

F~~~ yeah dude. And as for doing IT while high, You need something programatic to work on while the initial effects subside. Stuff like where you’re on autopilot like grepping log files or whatever. Once the buzz gets into a mellow groove, you’ll notice you can do the short term memory stuff again and even focus more intently on it, but you have to wait out that first half hour to an hour for it to get to that point.

    That’s my experience anyway. YMMV.

That said, I haven’t actually gotten high while doing work, or at least during regular work hours, for many years. Mixing weed and IT work works much better when you’re not under (immediate) time pressure, not working on mission critical systems, and not in break/fix mode, although that last one is debateable depending on the time pressure.

If you’re working on something where you have to assimilate a lot of new information though, it can make things a bit more difficult for the first half hour or so.

Maybe this is a round about way to get people to admit to a crime so its on their permanent record.

This is why they don’t want Marijuana in the Military, and historically not wanted it in society for that matter, it is conducive to going one’s own way. This is the very LAST thing that the Military wants… Someone who will be more likely to think for themselves and call bulls~~~ on something rather than be a good slave. It will be interesting to see what happens with all of this. You all know which side Joe is on by now though…Decriminalize it full circle.

First of all, pot is not the same as “any other drug” in its negative effects. Much safer than alcohol.
Secondly, the duties of Pentagon staff members differ from those of soldiers.
The sane policy is to be on the alert for anyone whose performance seems compromised in any way due to drug use or any other reason and deal with that.
The Army might learn something from the Pentagon policy on this.

I’m with you on this, Joe. I personally don’t care for the stuff but that doesn’t mean I want to take it away from people that enjoy or need it for medical reasons.
It was first made illegal for fear of the Mexican migrant workers who smoked it, which is why the government gave it the Spanish name Marijuana, instead of cannabis.
Nixon cracked down on it during the Vietnam war as a way to get back at students who were protesting the war since he couldn’t arrest them for exercising their constitutional right to protest.
