From what I’ve seen, women decide to pay their share or not depending on what they think about you.

If she thinks you’re a tool and unworthy of her time, then she won’t offer to pay. You owe her the free meal.

If she has a bit of respect for you but wants to make it clear she’s not interested, she will pay her share.

If she likes you and wants to see you again, she won’t pay. She wants to feel like you’re trying to win her over and all that.

Actually I will concur that on a first date most women these days want to go dutch (50%/50%). What you won’t see is women offering to pick up the whole tab. The women I have dated in the last 5 years will actually get insulted if you try to pick up the tab.

Dated three women like this and I would say you are spot on.

First woman wasn’t a looker but she would do literally anything to please me. She took me out to dinner, paid and then I stayed at hers. The next morning she asked if I was hungry and when she didn’t have what I wanted offered to go out and buy it. She also told me she was going to buy some lingerie she knew I liked and answer the door wearing it next time.

In my generation women were always paid for. There was no “going dutch”.

It’s been my belief since my late teens that if a woman really wants to stop a man from feeling entitled to her pussy than she should pay her own way on a date.
