Do you guys think we are approaching WW3? If so, are you doing anything in terms of preparations?
The US ended diplomatic relations with Russia a few weeks ago. Russia conducted an emergency drill in which 40 million people went to underground bunkers. Now Russia is asking it’s people who are living abroad to return home promptly, without finishing college, business deals, etc.
I went to the local vitamin store to pick up some potassium iodide, although doing this probably won’t make much of a difference if things get ugly.
I’m attaching a link to nukalert. I’ve had one of these for years. Basically it’s a keychain radiation detector.
Might be useful.Of course, if we ever did get involved in conflagration, you might see a lot of ladies on your doorstep.
Psychotic ignorant leaders (U.S & NATO) vs Smart authoritarian leader (Russia).
The fact of the matter is that no matter how hard-assed or how psychotic leaders are, they don’t really want a nuclear war, because it would mean the end of themselves as well.
The U.S congress thinks they can take conventional shots at Russia, without it turning into a nuclear war. The generals however, may not follow orders, if one comes to fire shots, they know it may turn into a nuclear war.
dated…but made me think of it all the same…
Yes and Yes—and you should be making preparations. I live in a rural area, with my own water source, I stock pile food, and I’m working on a back up electrical system. I also maintain firearms and about 10K rounds of ammo. I suggest you begin to do the same.
Your point about the leadership is well taken but it assumes the folks with the say so are rational. Putin is but Hillary? There is also the potential for a mistake or error to get out of control. The scary thing is that even during the cold war no one openly talked about incinerating someone elses country—no this is discussed openly and my experience has been that once the threshold of intentions to open language has been breached action is likely to follow words.

People always overlook that the leaders of other countries love their lives having so much power and they aren’t going to lose all of that over a nuclear war.
No one in the military is talking of attacking Russia, hell we can’t even take out Assad because we’re afraid of getting into war with Russia. It’s a stalemate, we know it, Russia knows, everybody knows it.
I’m more worried about those missiles being fired from Yemen. Yemen is where the USS Cole was attacked. I think we’ve been fighting WW3 since the end of WW2…and it’s been escalating. I don’t see Putin as an adversary, however. I think he’s a savvy world leader that rules over a very dangerous part of the world that most Americans can’t comprehend. Granted, Putin scares me, but our own state department and CIA scare me even more. I sometimes wish I’d never read “All the Shah’s Men”.

Anonymous24Um, we are already in a proxy war with Russia due to Obama/Clinton and the Saudi’s wanting a pipeline from Qatar to go through Syria. 250,000 dead so far just in an attempt to, once again, force a regime change that would favor those who the U.S./Israeli/Saudi governments work for.
Nukes? The first nuke likely to go off one day will be from Mid East terrorists who finally sneak one into the U.S. or somewhere in the E.U. This may still be decades off, if it ever does get done. As far as the Western “terrorists” (U.S./Israel) I doubt they ever use anything, same with the Russians/Chinese. It’s a stalemate. As crazy and heartless as I think many world leaders are, I don’t think any of them want to end the world as we know it.
There would be no Masters without their slaves.
In principal I agree with you guys advocating the desire for self preservation on the part of leaders BUT never EVER underestimate the effect of psychotic hubris.
By the number of conflits ongoing (Syria, Ukraine, Yemen, Pakistan, Boko Haram, Libya, etc), situation is much more explosive than before ww2 when there were only 2 wars (Italy-Ethiopia and China-Japan).
So it depends where you live, … in many parts of the world it feels ww3 is here. But i dont think we will se it, it will be on a regional conflits scale, because everyone knows that there is no return from nuclear war. But it still freaks me out thinking about how will Syria war end, map looks like spaghetti and all major powers are involved and things can get really ugly beyond region scale.
The choices we make, not the chances we take, determine our destiny
I am not one to advocate war, destruction & the end of civilization, as we know it…but the s~~~ is a pressure cooker, and something has to give.
I am more concerned about a “false flag” global “crisis/event”? that may usher in martial law…and f~~~ us out of even more “freedom” than what we have now.
Of course, the whole damn thing is a f~~~ing tinder box. Before 9/11, how many would have believed such an event could transpire?
I wonder to myself, how many more times will I have this question in my life, before it’s all said and done.
You guys are right on—Again I urge preparation—food/water/weapons. If you live in a city find a redoubt outside the city. Prepare now.
I’m terrified North Korea will perfect whatever they’re working on and sell it to ISIS or someone like them. I read a book once in 1980 called “The Crash of ’89”. It was based on the idea that a terrorist group invaded one set of oil fields while nuking the other set. It caused a worldwide collapse worse than the 1929 crash. It was only fiction…I hope.

One nuke set off on a ship in one of our container ports would do immeasurable damage to the country and would not even be that difficult to do. No one checks containers when they are loaded and by the time the ship gets into port it’s too late.

North Korea is a loose cannon, and I’d be very concerned if they manage to succeed in testing ballistic missiles or God Forbid, nuclear.
They’re so damn unpredictable, I wouldn’t be surprised if they used the weapons themselves.
Fortunately, so far their tests have been nothing short of comical, but they are being allowed to proceed pretty much unchecked.
Nathan is right. A single large nuke detonated high in the Atmosphere would generate an EMP that would likely fry the electrical grid for most of the nation–in effect paralyzing it. There would be no communications, traffic etc. I’m not trying to be an alarmist but lets look at this issue in the context of human history—wars have been going on since the day Cain busted Able upside the head. So war will never be a thing of the past.
We will all be GLOWING our own way, not going our own way.
No longer can we walk away, we must run. Remove the motive power.
“He will come like a thief in the night”…Poland, 1939; Pearl Harbor; September 11th; ? We won’t even see it coming.

It’s a good thing Emperor Nero didn’t have access to WMDs.

I believe the muslim cleric Imran Hosein has been warning people for years to stay away from the cities as he had visions of a nuclear war. I personally say you cannot physically prepare for such things. Being a spiritual person I can say my soul does not fear death.I have also heard from Muslims that the invasion of Syria was predicted in the Quran and that it was a major indicator of the ‘day of judgement’
