Anonymous54Thats the one Greg. The body was trashed, but man it went!I had a 66 Chevelle, but not the SS.
My x has a Honda with the 5 speed. Its well balanced and its slides nice and evenly at 80 mph. Loads of fun.
The new Mustangs Camaros and best of all Challangers will give you what your looking for.
I agree that the De Tomaso is a beatiful car, but it doesn’t have the sheer in your face arrogant brutality of the American cars of the late sixties early seventies.
There is so much stuff out there to enjoy if you’ve got the freedom to do what you want. I’m just dreaming I guess.
And even if I had one of these cars I’d need a road good enough to really drive it on. Too many speed cameras here. Took all the fun and freedom out of driving for me. I ride small capacity (250cc) Hondas as I can push it to it’s limits and still be around the legal speed limit. I get a big kick out of racing guys on bigger machines and winning by out cornering and snaking through traffic they can’t squeeze through. The look on their faces is priceless when they think they’ve lost me and I’m right behind them.
It gets my adrenaline going and gives vent to my testosterone. Makes me feel alive.

Anonymous54Tell you the truth horespower doesnt interst me. Its about how deep you can put it in a corner. Skill!!
@ Solomon,
Maybe one day I’ll visit the states and hire one out for a drive.
Could be an adventure.
Greg Honda, if you want to see the best muscle car show in the states, then come to Metro Detroit in August for the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise. It’s the largest, single day car event in the world. I go every year.

Ok you got me. I think I will do it.
I need something to look forward to and I’ve always wanted to visit the states.
Just got money burning a hole in my pocket and I want to have something to spend it on. Been hiding away for nearly 3 years now. It’s time to live a little I think.
I hear accomodation and food is cheap in the states? Just need to get a visa and plane ticket.
I’ll research this event and book the time off.
Be nice to hook up with some MGTOW brothers while I’m over there.
Maybe we can get somthing arranged?
Two years ago I was prying for death, now I’m starting to want to live again.
This site rocks

Well there are definitely worse problems to have. 🙂 A hot car – that you buy FOR YOU just because you like it – is a daily joy if you do it right. Screw “practical”.

One of favourite movies is American Beauty. The guy just decided to live his life the way he wanted to. Once he realised his wife was cheating on him he had no need to bow to her wishes anymore, and he brought the car he always wanted and f~~~ the practicalities. That film was inspirational to me. And when I saw it I was still happily married.
There will always be a part of any man which longs to be free.
You’re a long time dead.

Greg Honda, if you do pull the trigger and come to the Woodward Dream Cruise, make sure you get here before the Saturday official event. Because Friday night, until about 2AM, is when everyone cruises unofficially, just like I did when I was a teenager in my Catalina or in my cousin’s badass Superbird. Good times!

Remember the opening?

I found that movie inspirational as well. In fact, within a year there were three incredible movies with this same theme: What the f~~~ are you doing with your life? If you could start over, what would you do?
American Beauty, 1999
Fight Club, 1999
Castaway, 2000And if building or owning a car you’ve always wanted is on that list, then do it.
My first car was a 1968 Chevelle. It was given to me by my uncle when I was 19 in 1984. He bought it off the lot and drove it for 20,000 miles then was given a company car to drive so he parked it. When I went to get it, it didn’t run so had to get it going. It had a leak in the windshield area so the interior stank pretty bad with the rotten mess under the carpet on the floor. I removed it all, scrubbed it clean and ordered a replacement carpet.
That got me into restoration. I had 5 1968 Chevelles over a 10 year period. The last one I was doing a restoration and dropped a 454 into it.
I miss my cars.
If I had the space to keep it secure, and garage it out of sight I would import a 70’s muscle car. As it stands I can’t even get my Honda Jazz/Fit into what passes for a garage over here. I have money to spare because I have a small 2 bedroom house that I’ve paid off and I don’t want to get into debt to buy a bigger house with a double garage that I could store my dream car.
You wouldn’t believe how small our properties are compared to yours, and my small 2 bed house is worth £160,000.
A place in a good neighbourhood with a double garrage would be £250,000. I aint’ signing up for that. On top of that if you’ve got something nice the wrong people will notice and as a single guy I’m out at work and there is no one to defend my property. Been robbed before so I keep a low profile now and if you seen me on my old Honda bike you’d think I had nothin’ worth stealin’.No, I think I’ll travel to the states, check out Woodward and dream of what might have been if I’d lived a different life.

Not what most consider a muscle car but loved my fox body mustang gt… 302, five speed, stock all the way and awesome. Could leave a light without ever touching the gas pedal. Convertible too…. Always wanted a Shelby though, maybe some day before they all disappear.
No longer can we walk away, we must run. Remove the motive power.
What year was the mustang gt… 302?
I like to increase my knowledge of US cars when I can, just incase I win the lottery…………Oh wait I guess I’ll have to buy a ticket first! Dam I knew there was a catch. 🙂

See avatar. 1969 Stingray. Just a suggestion, find a car with air conditioning.
I’ve got a 1972 Plymouth Duster 340, that’s it in the background of my avatar.

Anonymous5I remember my dad would give us money if we helped fix cars when we were kids . I remember my brother working on my dad’s 67 Chevelle and me sneaking in and playing mortal combat while detailing it.my dad had a 77 Trans am that had a 455 big block t tops 4 speed anyways he sold it to a neighbor kid as my brother had his 82 el camino we would go illegal street racing with it we saw the Trans am there nothing could touch it even my brothers car with a 400.
69 Olds Cutlass Supreme, Munsey 4 speed, rocket 350, bucket seats. It was not a 442 but it was the most fun car I have had. The feeling of dumping that 4 speed down into third at 60 or so on the highway was unforgettable.
“Anyone ever had a muscle Car?”
See my avatar. 1970 Challenger. Race ready.
Mopar!!! Witch motor?
360 Magnum as of now. When I blow that — 426 Hemi.
When women lead, destruction is the destination. -- Me.
I see these cars from the late sixties and early seventies and I just want one!

Did any of you guys in the states ever get to drive one of these beasts?
Seems like the really cool cars died a death just as feminism was taking a hold.
Those f~~~ing Feminist Tree Huggers sucked all the fun out of life.
What a dreary world we let them create.
GTO, SS, Charger
Bring it on!
