    I can’t bring myself to become a mechanic slave by owning an American made vehicle where basic maintenance is not part of the design teams goals and aspirations.

    This video is a good case in point.

    A timing chain on a Chevrolet 237 family of small blocks from the 50s’ to the early 70s takes about 2 hrs.

    This Video is about a GMC Canyon, changing the timing chain involves separating the 4×4 front drive train, the transmission, the intake, and all the small parts in between, the timing cover even has a bolt holding from inside the engine whereas the oil pan must also be removed.

    I’m still waiting for Toyota to import its version of a 1 ton dually turbo diesel.

    I will NEVER f~~~ myself with American auto engineering again!

    When you own American, you know what the inside of your engine, transmission, and reared looks like!

    When you own American you know what it’s like to get your weekly Manufactures recall warning.

    Just the other day I was feeling warm and fuzzy inside knowing I got rid of my totally rebuild Ford F-350 that only makes it down the road a little way and something else breaks again, not small things either! ENGINES TRANSMISSIONS AND REARENDS! Like a f~~~ing landwhale eating peanuts!

    There’s NO EXCUSE FOR THIS KIND OF S~~~!

    FORD, CHRYSLER, GM; YOU’RE FIRED!

    I sort of agree. Newer cars suck. They have everythibg covered and rely so much on electronics. Currently i drive a 2014 ford fusion and almost all the buttons are pressure sensitive plates. They have gotten stuck multiple times and dont always work on one push. My personal favorite cares are 1973 dodge chager, 1969 mustang mach 1, and most classic muscles.

    Agreed MGTOWER, and alot of these newer vehicles need back up cameras, that says the design is just s~~~ty to me. To hell with the electronic crap. Moderen foreign cars are no exception. Have a Mazda sedan that is nothing but problems. Poor design for maintence and repair indeed. My dream vehicle is a 1979 K20 with and inline 6 and 4 speed transmission. Had an 88 C1500 that was very maintence freindly. Good vehicle too. Cant stop a 350TBI coupled to a 700R4.

    Why they want to imitate the damn Kraut overengineered jalopies is beyond me, those suck dick. Had an early 90s BMW out of an auto auction for fun and they were over engeneered then.

    Could get one of these easy maintence, and very little electronics.

    That’s why I went with the Tacoma. Crossed 100k and the engine still looked new. Just crossed 170k.

    To change the oil. Imagine the oil filter postitioned at the top staring at you when you open the hood. Amazing.

    6 banger engine is all I need. I’m not hauling tanks. Just a regular guy. If I need to haul 100 tons then I rent a truck. Otherwise my mid size quad Tacoma does everything.

    I don’t even argue with them. Drive your American beast. Good luck brother.

    Just kidding.

    The family farmed with a more moderen G so I have an afinity for them. Although the tractor I have used the most was an 8N, great machine too.

    Did you know that today you can buy aftermarket electronic ignition systems for those old N-Series Fords (both 12v and/or 6V)? Just sayin’… 😀

    Yeah, the newer cars are clearly not meant to be worked on. I had a 97 Lumina that had the f~~~ing car battery underneath the damn wind shield wiper fluid reservoir. You had to take the reservoir out to change the battery, which failed every year due to faulty electronics draining the battery when the car was off. Just got a Ford from my friend because the price was right. I’m not looking forward to the electronics failures that will inevitably happen. They are packing these electronics into everything and anything nowadays and its no wonder the CMOS crap is the first to fail. The technology is inherently unreliable. It might be fun for kids toys, but when you need reliability analog is the way to go. The electronics are not designed to be repaired, they are designed to be replaced. Thats right, when they fail they go to the ever expanding garbage dumps I’m surrounded by. Compare that with old Vacuum tubes from the 1940’s that can be repaired indefinitely. Totally different mentality back then from the disposable world that we live in. I’m anticipating that the whole digital world will come crashing down like the Tower of Babel sometime in the next 50 years or so. Lol.

    I dont doubt it. What dont they make for the N series? Ours was a 6v while we had it. Have a Allis model C thats been converted to a 12v, ohh the glory of the 12v system. Now parts for the Deere are not so avalible or cheap. The price of being Greene haha. That part makes me happy the Deere is not my problem.

    On my mom’s 2006 Chrysler Sebring you have to remove the left front wheel and fender liner to replace the battery. What idiots designed that? I could understand if it was a Vet or some fast sports car and didn’t have the space for the battery or wanted to lower the center of gravity a bit more, but a f~~~ing grandma car. WTF?

    On my mom’s 2006 Chrysler Sebring you have to remove the left front wheel and fender liner to replace the battery. What idiots designed that?     I work a lot on the older Fox-chassis Fords. On the ones with the 200 CI. six cylinder in-line engines, you can do an the entire oil change from under the hood without even having to crawl under the car. You just have to bend down to slide the oil drain pan in and out. A complete engine removal takes about an hour-and-a-half…

    I drive an ’03 ford. I could upgrade but why? It works perfectly, does not look like a c~~~pit with s~~~ loads of buttons and theres alot more I can do with my money than buy a newer car.

    See that sheen? That’s not store bought turtle waxed! That’s from a good source and balance of potassium. Low K gives them a dry look. They look yummy! Mine are only flowers, but that’s not bad considering frost danger ended only 6 days ago, they got a little sun stroke from the transition to outdoors, I really need a small green house. Planted a couple more peach trees and they’re on the grow formula too.

    That’s why I went with the Tacoma

    I’m on my 2nd Taco! over 400,000 combined miles! TROUBLE FREE MILES! 4X4 is a must with the climate and terrain. I can haul more than a full size pickup using the trailer, and still maintain 75mph on the steep parts of the interstates around here! A 4X4 that’s easily capable of maintaining speeds over 100mph were unheard of! only cars went that fast!

    Actually, it was a team of idiots!

    To be fair, it’s mostly market driven. Studies have shown that millennial guys are less inclined to fix or even own their own vehicles. Being chauffeured around by ‘Mom’s Taxi’ all their lives and on-line socializing (not needing to go anywhere to ‘visit’ somebody) are evidently contributing factors to this…

    I agree with Tower that American businesses have lost out in competitiveness. This is not just bout labour costs but the innovation and quality plus service that came with a brand.

    It’s what happens when automakers – like other industries – employ stupid accountants who slash and slash to make a production factory out of everything that churns out forgettable and generic products.

    No car maker is proud to make anything anymore or to keep the customer coming back with after-sales.

    Most car manufacturers will move out and it is happening. So you are right Tower – it will happen.

    Hey Autolite, I’m a small tractor guy, I like this tractor! I’m tempted to do it to a Gravely but with a motorcycle engine, torque converter, and a sprocket 1″ rear axle with differential from a 1 yard concrete hauler! I have all the parts except a 12,000cc Harley engine. I think the combination would be outstanding! I’ve welded a few things up in my day!

    This guy’s driving a V8 with lawn mower wheels! My HERO!

    Land speed plowing record? Someone once told me that there were a handful of 8Ns from the factory with the V8,not sure if thats true but those V8 8Ns look like fun!
