An individual man in this society chooses his chivalry. I think local tolerance levels play a part as well.
I’m from and still residing in a marxist metro area. My chivalry is almost non existent. I’m not disrespectful, I make sure I look for no.1 first.

If I don’t, I won’t. i dont care what anyone else thinks. they don’t know if i am in a hurry, or preoccupied with a problem, or am in the middle of a more pressing matter. I am not setting aside the things I need to get done because of an outdated convention that many do not even appreciate and would instead attack me for following. Feminists killed it, they said out right they wanted to be treated the same as men. If you held a door years ago a woman would say thank you. If you hold one today she’s likely to shout at you whilst filming a ‘sexist monster’ feels women need special treatment and aren’t equal. They spin it as if you are holding it open for a woman to ‘permit her into the building like a power thing, not that you are just being polite. I’ve read that exact argument that it is a domination thing. That’s what happened to chivalry and manners, the women that benefited from it, killed it.

I grew up watching older men being respectful to women and doing stuff like holding the door open for them. I naturally wanted to emulate these men so I could one day be respected as a gentleman.
Unfortunately, I think feminism has given women too many reasons to hate or resent men to the point where they want to show off their independence. A lot of women want to prove that they can handle their business without men. So when they combined that attitude with public drunken behavior after a night of partying, they’ve pretty much killed the desire for men to be chivalrous.
I don’t think chivalry is dead in the USA—the old ladies seem to appreciate it more because they grew during a time when women respected men—but it is dying. I feel like it is my duty to help others in need, and protect those who are weak—like the knights of old times. But I also feel like it is a wasted effort when it comes to helping the self-righteous feminists. I like being a gentleman, but I’d rather be that way in a country where women actually act like ladies and enjoy their role in society while respecting my role.

This got me thinking about other f~~~ed up assumptions women make.
In no particular order, women assume that:
Men value sex as highly as they do
Feminism is of benefit to them as an individual
Feminism cares about ALL women including the fat, old or ugly ones
Women are as physically capable as men
Women are as mentally capable as men
They will be able to use vagina as currency forever
Men have unlimited patience
Men can’t handle being alone
They can do a job better than anyone else purely because they have been given the job title
Cats are a good substitute for men
A divorce settlement payment will last forever and they don’t need to learn how to budget and/or work for a living
Oral and anal don’t count as losing virginity
Any other bulls~~~ assumptions?

Great share WR. A very interesting read. Some quite detailed statistical analysis so feminists would probably ignore it as “patriarchal propaganda” because it uses logic and unbiased data. I thought the analysis and conclusions were clear and very much against the feminist doctrine.
One bit stood out:
Examining within‐sex trends indicated that men showed lower levels of physical aggression to partners than to other men, whereas women showed higher levels of physical aggression to partners than to other women.
The first trend supports the “chivalry” theory (Felson, 2002, 2006), that men are in general more inhibited in physically aggressing to a female partner than they are to another man.
The findings for women would suggest that they are less inhibited in physically aggressing to a male partner than they are to another woman, perhaps because they know that chivalry will tend to prevent retaliation by a partner.
This is consistent with studies showing a degree of social acceptance of women’s physical aggression to partners (Harris & Cook, 1994; Simon et al., 2001; Sorenson & Taylor, 2005; Taylor & Sorenson, 2005).
It also partially supports the findings of Felson, Ackerman, and Yeon (2003) who found that men are more inhibited about using violence against their wives whereas women do not have such inhibitions about violence towards their husbands.

One said chivalry is dead, and its because women killed it. The other said no, “real” men are not intimidated by empowered women and if men are not acting with chivalry its not because of women power. Or at least not real men. The third was apparently just there for balance.
None of those women have the first clue what chivalry actually is. But that doesn’t stop them from assuming it’s all about women.

chivalry From the old French word for knighthood, “chevalerie”, the art of being a chevalier (a knight or horseman). This was originally a system by which mounted warriors were to act, but while service to their people is touched upon the general goal of medieval knights was not saving many a damsel in distress, devotion to God, or enforcing justice; most knights defined chivalry as warfare and obtaining fame and fortune in the name of their king(s) and without any display of cowardice in battle. In a sense, it’s hardly different from joining the military for the benefits that it offers, including the money that pours in from the business of war. Chivalry was basically a boy’s culture: fighting other men, riding horses, power and profit and the ability to exploit that power. The modern notion of chivalry as courtesy to women has tenuous links to chivalry as it was originally conceived. Perhaps courtly love (coined in 1883 to describe the worship of a married noblewoman by a lowly troubadour or knight and his vow to do great deeds in her honor) influenced this notion, but courtly love is, for all intents and purposes, adultery (very dangerous to both participants) and to what extent that courtly love was ever practiced remains unknown. Chivalry, for the most part, was the opposite of the Geneva Convention; it was all about making a profit on war. The image of an honorable knight saving a fair maiden from a dragon is not much more than sheer fantasy, and most of it seems to stem from the Victorian era; the Victorians, in the midst of the Industrial Revolution, looked at the Middle Ages through rose colored glasses as an idyllic place of pre-industrial innocence, projecting their own ideals of men and women onto the knight and the damsel in distress. A real knight in shining armor was actually more like a trained assassin and the local rapist rolled into one and the damsel in distress, a helpless shrinking violet, never really existed.

I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at those who misunderstand me.
