The smart money is to let President Trump have 2020 and focus on a 2024 win when the field is open.

Most of the support President Trump has does not translate to support for the Republicans in general. The Trump supporters loath the GOPe and only welcome those that help the MAGA agenda.

From the democrats small bench, I can think of a few people that, while would not have a chance against President Trump in 2020, could still win 2024.

Karma is subtle and takes time.

This woman’s actions has risked a civil war to prevent herself from being jailed. But, she has forgotten, if she now dies by illness, or she has herself committed to avoid jail, she will destroy what is left of her reputation.

At least being jailed for her many crimes has some cred for being infamous. She will be remembered. If she is not jailed, she will be forgotten without a decade. She might even reach a point she will desire to be jailed to be seen as a political martyr.

At this point, President Trump might not want to jail her and wait for her to die. Once she is dead, that leaves the Clinton Foundation unprotected. Bill looks to not be long for this world, Chelsea will probably flee the country with her child, while all the others involved have spent the last year and a half distancing themselves from the Clintons to protect themselves. And from the records of the Clinton Foundation her crimes will be laid out for all to see, with her having no way to defend herself because she will be dead.
