For over a year now I’ve been living spartan-style way below my means. And I love it. I live a very minimalistic life and rent a room as if I’m still in College. In the beginning I thought of it all as “frugal living”, but I’ve started to think of it more as “efficient living”. Getting as much life (= time) for my buck as possible. Along the way I found out that learning new skills helps a lot in order to save money while maintaining or improving the quality of my life.

Some things I’ve come up with to make for more efficient living:

Learning to cut my own hair – I bought a hair trimmer, some scissors and a hand held mirror. Still learning, but my crew cut is getting pretty good. The hair trimmer etc. paid for itself after a couple of cuts, and with the help of Youtube tutorials I can now cut my hair just the way I want from now on until the day I die. No more small talk in barber shops, no more paying bimbos 30$+ for a poor cut.

Learning to cook – I have always eaten at home, and rarely eat out. However, upping my cooking skills have really made eating healthy more enjoyable. And for the days I just don’t want to cook, I have some go-to Crockpot recipes that cook themselves. Tastes delicious, is really cheap + healthy. What’s not to like?

Learning body-weight training – I quit the gym and started doing calisthenics + yoga + cycling. I also hike from time to time. Feels wonderful and is completely free.

Cold showers – I do them everyday. Saves money and reminds me of the fact that pain is temporary. Feels awesome afterwards and makes you feel more awake and alive than any caffein-shot would ever make you feel.

Quit alcohol – This is not for everyone. This is a personal choice I made some time ago, as I’ve been struggling with drinking too much. I just like beer too much it seems. I lose self control after just one beer. And I get a maximum of 2-3 hours of sleep tops after having just a couple of drinks. I decided it was time to let go. It also saves a lot of money, as alcohol where I live is EXTREMELY expensive (4-5$ for a 0,5 litre of beer. At the supermarket. Yeah, this was one of the reasons why I brewed my own for a while before quitting).

Learning to mend my own clothes / shoes – I learned to mend clothes and leather shoes. Nothing fancy, but you can make clothes last a lot longer with just some basic stuff – needles, thread, shoe creams, leather conditioner etc. I learned everything online.

Cycle everywhere – I mentioned this earlier, but I cycle everywhere now and therefore don’t need a car. The 20 miles back and forth between work was tough in the beginning – now it’s just second nature and feels great. No rush hour and keeps me in great shape.

Do you guys have any tips on how we can make our lives more efficient in terms of time and money?
We MGTOWs can do anything and live like spartans. I will do my best to hack my own life in order to buy my time back instead of spending money on bulls~~~ stuff and services.

I made my life more efficient by cutting the weemins out of it and welcoming the No F~~~s Given attitude that keeps me anchored in MGTOW living and not drifting into the bitches created storms. Added to that is a minimalist lifestyle and a good dose of doing it yourself.
As soon as you realize you don’t need weemins but that they in fact need you, you’ve dropped the feminists’ shackles and are on your way to Freedom, peace of mind, contenment and a more efficient lifestyle.

Those are all great expressions of honest, self directed living. I already do my own cooking, cleaning and exercise at home and will soon add hair cutting and mending as well.

I assume you’ve cut out all commercially funded media such as television, radio, etc… I also find that playing games with friends is far more entertaining than any kind of mediated sporting event or other activity you might engage in.

Basically anything that someone is advertising to you is just a way to separate you from your money. Buy what you must and choose quality over quantity and style when you do but for everything else, as much as possible, make, prepare and do it yourself.

With my skills alone I save untold thousands of dollars a year, just in the last couple of months; Rebuilt Turbocharger saved $1,700 for the cost of a new one, and even more to diagnose and replace, total about $3,500

Refrigerator motherboard repaired with a spot of solder, material and labor for a repair man would have been over $500

Cobbled together another Gravely 450 industrial lawn tractor from parts, mowing rocks to make gravel, and cord wood to make splinters, PRICELESS! No more broken drive belts (shaft driven), no more broken spindles with their blades puncturing the mower deck.

My lifestyle rivals that of a white collar woman making good money and spending it poorly. I somehow have more wealth than a female hospital CFO I know. She spent her money on lavishness foolishness of outward appearance, Mc’Mantion, Mc’luxury car, things I could have easily afforded when times were good. Now that times are BAD, I’m not the one with a $2,000 monthly Mc’mortgage, I fact I’m selling my unfinished Mc’Mantion on 30 acres in VT. Anyone want to buy a Mc’Mantion?

I’ve been spending my time going minimalist during this decade of Obama’s “CHANGE”.

I fabricated my own water boiler from the rocket stove design, all my ethylene and propylene plastics are incinerated along with used motor oil, it’s smoke free and burns 80=% efficient, I use half the fuel of conventional burning, and that fuel is FREE. I f~~~ing hate cold showers!

I planted fruit trees some years ago, now they supply me with much more than I can eat, I freeze peaches to be used all year long. Goats for making cheese are on the way.

When a government goes f~~~ing fruit-loop like this one has, the only security you have is the security you make. I’m living HIGH on the stern of the TITANIC!

P.S. I learned how to cut hair from a hair dresser, And have cut my own countless times, however I’m lucky my hair isn’t fiber-optic straight, cause it would look like s~~~.

Already doing all on your list + having no women terminators around.

But my current job pays poorly, I’m in the bottom 10% in the income statistics in my country. So the next step for me is: get a better job. Which is easier said than done…

Doc Fenderson – Yes, I’ve cut out all TV. I haven’t owned a TV for 5 years and only stream what I want to see online. I do however watch some Japanese game shows every now and then, as I speak Japanese and find them hilarious. But news, ads etc. are gone from my radar, and I feel much better because of it.
If you want to try out cutting your own hair, I highly recommend this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHChHDHnj-4
I actually cut my hair using this tutorial today – it was an easy cut, but it turned out really well! This video is good for learning how to edge your hair to make your cut look sharp – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTHH5xvQZyc&index=1&list=FLehf3-cBhW4lRhnCZbaGZLQ (It’s halfway through the video, where he shows how to edge your cut around the ears and the neck)
I would spend a couple of extra bucks on a good hair trimmer (I use a high end clipper from Philips, as it is extremely easy to adjust, long battery life etc. – Philips HC7460. I think it might have a different model name in the US, mine is for the EU/Asia market).
Additionally you want a pair of normal barber scissors, a pair of hair thinning barber scissors and a handheld mirror. I bought mine cheap on eBay! Good luck – I f~~~ed up the first time I tried, and almost gave up. However, after my first successful haircut I never looked back!

MG-ɹǝʍo┴ – Awesome stuff man! I would love to learn some more basic electronic repair and maintenance skills. I know next to nothing about it. Do you have any tips on books / resources for learning?

My biggest tip for efficient living would have to be to get out of debt, or stay out of debt if you aren’t currently in it. The amount of people I know who throw away hundreds of dollars a month on interest for depreciating assets, junk, and vacations is amazing!

A buddy of mine for example that is just awful with money runs a constant balance on his credit cards because he finances things like his European vacation he went on last year, and has a fat car payment because he never goes more than 4 years without trading in his car and financing another brand new one. He’s still got some student loans as well. He must be throwing away at least 600 dollars a month in interest. If he had skipped out on his last two new cars and the junk he charged on credit cards, he could have had his student loans paid off…that would have been at least an extra 600 bucks a month in cash flow he could be saving right now!

Its almost humorous how he’ll act like he’s saving money by cutting Dunkin Donuts out of his morning routine for a savings of 2 dollars a day, but he’ll continue to p~~~ away 10 times that amount on interest and not make any real efforts to change his debt situation because whatever he saves on DD he’ll just end up spending at the bar next weekend and not even think about it.

Cycle everywhere – I mentioned this earlier, but I cycle everywhere now and therefore don’t need a car. The 20 miles back and forth between work was tough in the beginning – now it’s just second nature and feels great. No rush hour and keeps me in great shape.

I cycled a bit for many years but started cycling almost exclusively about 3 years ago.
I think I used the car only about 5 or 6 times last year, and only 3 times so far this year.
After about 18 months of full time cycling there’s no effort, tiredness, pain of any type with cycling,,,your legs just do it without you even thinking. It becomes, like you say, second nature.
It’s like hopping on a magic carpet and steering.
I’ve only got about 3 miles to work and about 2 miles for general shopping.
The only time I use the car is to pick up heavy things and take loads to the rubbish dump.

I was looking at electric bikes because they seem to be so cheap and incredibly efficient now but I couldn’t see any advantage at all. It’s zero effort and cost to cycle manually.

A rule of thumb, depending on your age, if you save 1 dollar today it would be worth 7 dollars in your retirement.

Before you spend a dollar, is it a need or a want? Learn to tell the difference.

Thrift stores. Big name clothes for penny’s on the dollar.

Amen I got glasses that would have easily been 150$ for 17$ the other day at a thrift store that looked ready to go out of business.

I’m living in a really cheap apartment, but in a few years I plan on getting either a class B RV or a small camper to live in to cut out utilities entirely.

Something like this: would be perfect for me.

For food, I usually stick to half a pound of deli meat from Walmart and bread rolls for lunch during the week. That in of itself costs around $10.

For breakfast, I just buy a carton of eggs and almond milk. I boil the eggs for breakfast and it makes a pretty decent meal.

For dinner, I end up getting a few packs of frozen vegetables and either some ground up hamburger, fish, or a few steaks, and those last me the whole week.

Here are the things I do, strangely enough I actually get a buzz from being frugal and seeing my bank account rising.

1)Debt, having no debt will save you hundreds each month.
2)Mobile phone, get a pay as you go sim card and own your phone outright.
3)take your own lunch to work, never buy coffee.
4)Take a bit of time to ensure you are paying the absolute minimum possible for car insurance, electricity, gas, house insurance, broadband etc.
5)Cancel your cable TV, not only will it save you money but it will help your mental state not watching all that crap.
6)Buy your food for the week and ensure you don’t have to buy anything else. If you have to pop out for some bread I guarantee you will end up buying stuff you don’t need.

Those six points alone will save you a fortune and you will not notice any difference in your quality of life, infact it will most likely increase.

These are some additional things I do to save money:

1)Never carry cash or credit cards. Cash has a habit of just being spent on nothing and disappearing.
2)Don’t impulse buy things. Think about what you are buying and how long you have to work to pay for it. Is it really worth that amount of money?
3)If you really need something, do some research to ensure you are buying it from the cheapest place.
4)See how many days in a row you can go without spending any money.
5)Don’t eat out, it is a total con and I can eat better at home for a fraction of the cost.
6)Don’t go on holiday, it is just a massive wallet raping from start to finish. Flights, accomodation, taxi rides, drinks, entertainment, food etc. I would rather spend a week at home relaxing, working on my house/car, eating well, listening to music and generally chilling out.

For women, everything eventually boils down to Alpha Fucks, Beta Bucks.

Most of the guys here have said it all
Few additional points may help. Your priorities may change.

If you need to give money or are looking after someone make sure YOU understand you cannot give more than what you can afford to. Also don’t beat yourself up because you could not do more. We are all human.

Try a small side business for day-to-day expenses.
It may be a big thing – you never know.

Keep your ear to the ground know what is going on.
You have a better chance of succeeding

Find someone successful (legally) and learn how they did it.
    We all need help.

Don’t be afraid to fail – if you don’t fail a few times you don’t deserve to succeed (my prof in school said this – not me)

    Lastly…
    STAY AWAY FROM FEMALES. PERIOD.
