Even men on here judge each other by income, and many will lie about their income levels when it’s convenient.

If you are being objective, it certainly does matter.

The irony is that flaunting your wealth makes you a target. I am very well off and I dress in t-shirt and jeans, drive beat up old cars, and always tell people I’m broke. I even funnel money into charity through anonymous sources. I don’t get the tax write-off that way, but it’s even less of a link to me and how I spend money.

I am not even all that unique in this regard. A lot of millionaires (I’m not quite at that level though) are very similar in how low key they are on wealth.
