Indiana’s New Baby Drop Boxes Let Moms Abandon Their Kids Safely

The Woodburn Volunteer Fire Department, located about 15 miles east of Fort Wayne in Indiana, is offering a new amenity for mothers. It’s called the Safe Haven Baby Box, a padded, climate-controlled container for newborns. It’s connected to a security system, so the emergency personnel inside the building know when a baby has been placed there, and can be there within moments. These boxes aren’t for babysitting, or keeping a child safe for a short period. They’re for dropping off unwanted infants.

Every state in the United States and the District of Columbia has a safe haven law, a statute that decriminalizes the act of leaving an unharmed infant at a sanctioned location, like an emergency room or fire station. Babies left under these laws become wards of the state, and the parent who left them is safe from prosecution. The original purpose of these statutes was to lessen the occurrence of infanticide and abandonment in dangerous situations. The Safe Haven Baby Box is meant to make safe abandonment easier.

Monica Kelsey, a volunteer with the fire department, has been advocating for baby boxes in Indiana for years. She explained that some people want total anonymity, citing a case where a young woman called a hotline Kelsey volunteered for. She asked for the location of a baby box, refusing to go to a hospital or fire station. Eventually, her boyfriend brought the baby to a hospital, but the situation could easily happen again.

“This is not criminal,” Kelsey told theAssociated Press. “This is legal. We don’t want to push women away.”

Critics of the boxes say they make it easier for parents to give up a child without considering other options. The baby boxes aren’t likely to go anywhere soon, however — two have already been installed in Indiana, where State Rep. Casey Cox and Gov. Mike Pence’s administrations have been working together on safety protocols.

So, apparently it is common enough there that the powers that be felt to need to create a “system” to give away babies. A couple of thoughts:

    1. I’m surprised the mommies would give away the money maker. It must be to give away dead beat Chad babies now that you have found a beta, but one that doesn’t want to raise someone else’s child.

    2. How much say does the father have here? If the single mom just stops by and drops off the kid, does the dad have any right to go claim HIS child?

    3. I’m picking on Indiana, but the article says that every state has this law.

    4. Who just had a topic yesterday about the fall of civilization???

Simply moving further and further to the State raising children. Remember, men overthrow dictators, tyrannies and bad governments; chicks and emasculated chicks with dicks, do not. See the agenda now?

I also see bachelor taxes and a license even to have sex coming soon to a Police State near you.

Or, they got pumped and dumped and now realize that many guys don’t want to date single mothers.
Also, you will occasionally get a mother actually acting from a decent impulse to give the child a better life than it would have had with her, but she probably should have thought of that beforehand anyways…
In addition, some women, no matter how close to the Wall they are, still can’t stand having children.

I’m pretty sure the state has ways for a father to reclaim children that the mother abandoned, but they are likely ineffective and do not punish the mother for basically kidnapping his children.

That’s not even the sad part. The sad part is that we need this law in the first place.

Keep in mind, though, that even though it is absolutely wrong to abandon one’s children, it’s still better for the child than staying with a single mother who is obviously incapable of rearing a child.

Also, these laws still save the lives of the infants who would simply have been killed or aborted, and for those who were raped or became single mothers through no fault of their own (a statistically small, yet still plausible occurrence, to my understanding), it provides a way to give the child a better life.

Just a misogynist virgin hiding away in his mother's basement. Nothing to see here...

They should put a baby box next to every needle dispensary. Pick up drugs, go drop off baby, and get needles at the same time! A feminist liberal paradise!
Would I be rude for calling it a babydisposal?
    Or is babymasher better?

Any society that has such a thing should have the capacity for men to get financial abortions.

Because equality, right? No, wait, what am I saying…
