Many women who heard that I like to read history, watch history shows and enrich my knowledge with information that doesn’t cash in for me, think that it’s making me boring.

If they hear me talk about ideology and my philosophical thoughts about the world, they yawn.
If they go abroad, they will not go to museums before going to the bar, they would rather go shopping.

Why the hell would I want to spend my time, with ignorant crap like them? who still have a behavior of an high school kid? history is amazing! philosophy makes us humans! Knowledge is everything! and they lack it and think it’s bad!

They swerve history because, apart from a few rare but brilliant examples, women had f~~~ all to do ‘cept pop out kids and keep the hearth going at home.

History allows one to examine the progress of Mankind and specific cultures, and hopefully benefit from the past by avoiding repeating mistakes.

I spent two years studying classical history hard when I retired. I find that when I discuss history with people it’s in the context of them remembering part of it but I know most of the whole story.

This makes me come off as a know it all, IMO. So now I try to keep my historical thoughts to myself.

It is a rare person that can really appreciate history and the lessons it tells.

Like that war changes civilizations more than customs do every time. The passive are overrun.

Ridiculous, isn’t it ? The way they prefer not to think/got no interest. In school I really enjoyed learning history/culture/art, (and checking different sources at the time to have a perspective) although I forgot most of it by now.

Knowledge is power my friend. Don’t ever lower your standards for the sake of others. If some people out there look down on you for being intelligent, or a know it all, it’s only because they are envious for their inability to grasp the subject in the first place. I should remind you that science and math are also starting to become neglected in the West so forget talking history or philosophy with the average normie sheep.

I have a PhD in History and women have been always fascinated when I speak about History, even if most (almost all) them did understand exactly NOTHING.
So I guess that probably there must be something wrong in your way to approach the arguments. I suggest to first understand what kind of argument is interesting for the person you’re speaking to, then to use your History knowledge to speak about such argument.
People care nothing about your ideology, and mixing personal ideology/philosophy with History is a bad thing: our approach is already biased due our personal beliefs, the effort should be towards exposing historical facts in an apparently neutral way.

I, too, have had a lifelong interest in history. My BA and MA are in the subject, and over the years I have built a respectable personal library. My areas of interest are the World Wars and the U.S. Civil War. And, frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn if people think I am boring. Screw them!

This reminds me of, I think, a story I read. I’m paraphrasing. An alien arrives on earth and encounters a human. The alien begins asking the human questions about what it sees. It points to a tree and asks what is that. The person replies that it is a tree. The alien asks what makes it a tree and how does it work. The person replies that it’s just a large plant that grows tall. The alien points to a fish and asks what it is. The person replies that it a fish. What kind of fish? I don’t know, just a fish. How does it work? It just swims around and eats other fish. The alien leaves and concludes there is little intelligent life as the dominant species know so little about its environment.

When I tell people I mostly watch documentaries about history and science, they tend to look dejected that I’m not up to date on the coolest vampire, cop drama, or superhero shows. We live in an amazing world. Why shun learning as much about its’ strange history, life, and places before making up imaginary ones?

A co-worker recently told me, "If you want to see who someone really is, divorce them." I have found out how true this is. When your wife drops the façade of being the caring partner, you will witness all of the greed, hate, and spite that she has masked. It is truly breathtaking!

I like Roman history and the French revolution.
The American Constitution also brings me much interest, for me, even though I am not American, it is the most incredible bill of civil rights and wish all nations would follow it.
