Ok this is not a fan boy argument.

My divorce has been finalized for a few months now and I no longer owe her money etc….

I have not had a gaming system since she made me get rid of my ps3. So here is the deal. I like games like Skyrim etc… The new ESO (elder scrolls online) looks fun to me. I am kinda excited about the new edition of Skyrim as that was the game I played pre eradication of fun.

What system is going to be best? Or are these systems at the emd of their cycle and I should wait for the new PS5 or Xbox um er… the new XBOX?

    Congrats, brother!

Have you considered PC gaming? I have built many of my PCs.

Not really. I play WOW on occasion but not to into PC gaming.

Might be worth looking at considering I do need a video rig that can do 4k editing. So anything that can do that can probably handle gaming.

Ps4 and xboxes are terrible. They aren’t even backwards compatible. Meaning you can’t play ps3 games on ps4.

In this case, I recommend building a new PC, two birds one stone. Instead of spending $600 on a PS5, spend that on a good quality video card. If you need help on finding a good video card, I am happy to give you a recommendation.

The video cards in a PC, most of the time, smash the video processors in any console.

XBox phoneix I belive its called and will be better. Until PS5 comes later.

I agree with MGTOW_Mike PC is superior, some gaming rigs have like 80 GB of RAM or whatever.

Console is for when I’m feeling too lazy to sit in a chair and wait for a bootup/login, so instead plop on a couch and put my feet up. Not having to work my fingers on a keyboard.

Not true… The Xbox one is now backwards compatible with hundreds of 360 games (more titles are being added all the time). And an update is due in the next few months, that will give us original Xbox compatibility.

The PS4 isn’t backwards compatible, per se, but there are PS3 games available via the “Playstation Now” game streaming service.

I’ve had both machines and I’d personally choose the Xbox.

I have no experience with the Xbox, but I do with the PlayStation 1 – 3. So I would tell you to go there.

The most powerful system is the X . But understand that neither system is truly capable of rendering true 4k @ 60fps they’re just not. A GTX 1080 Ti is BARELY capable and it’s up around 11 gigaflops and the xbox X is only 6 and the PS4 pro is 4 gigaflops. Even if you don’t know what a gigaflop is, you can understand the difference between those #’s. IT’s a much more complex conversation that just that, but gigaflops is what all the marketing speak is about so I’ll just use that.

I would say that Sony is winning this generation of gaming systems largely due to marketing message fumbles at launch for Microsoft and sony’s taken the ball and run with it. You can also do VR on PS4 pro if you’re into that, VR is amazing though I don’t use a PS for that i have it on PC with Oculus. So i think Sony’s got the better platform although their box is going to be under powered comparing to Xbox. On the other hand it’s not really clear what xbox is going to do with that 6 gigaflops they’re non committal on VR support so I dunno.

Last consideration is where are your friends playing or did you wife alienate you from all your friends? If you have onlne friends, play on what platform they play on. IF you don’t then it doesn’t matter, you’ll be making new friends.

Sorta, I am not the friend type, never have been. Always had a small circle but mostly a lone wolf so to speak. I had a few hunting/ shooting buddies. She was odd, she loved when I brought home the deer etc.. she could make a venison stew like no other. She then took that since we had free meat, we could max out a credit card or two since we didn’t need the money for food.

She was very jealous of video games. So much so she actually would check my phone for game apps. She even made me show her my work phone…. like a chump I let her do that to me….. not sure why.

Why not get best of both worlds and build yourself a PC with the Ryzen 7 and do both content creation and heavy gaming? Even the Ryzen 5 1600 can hold its own and fulfill your needs. With AMD’s lineup you can build yourself a nice and easy on the wallet pc.

Looking at the AMD chips my only issue with them is power consumption. That being said it looks to render video faster than Pentium. I guess power consumption is equal based on less time spent rendering.

+1 voting for master race (And I’ve had every single console from megadrive to PS3/360/Wii gen) but it’s just not worth it anymore. I was more an Xbox fan because I prefered the exclusives during those generations, though right now it seems that everything is orbitating towards PC (even more in the case of the Xbox exclusives) so I guess I’d buy a Ps4. I’d love to play bloodborne, the last of us (I’ll play this one if I get the ps3 from my dad’s home some of this days :P) and the new god of war. omg 😛

Price, free online network, guaranteed retrocompatibility, all the offers you’d want, mods (I mean you like skyrim)
    Way to go 100%.

Ive had all as I have a son who is 13 and every xmas since he was one years old I have said he needs a console. So, Xbox was a waste of time, servers are terrible and the interface is awful. PS4 for me is much better in terms of quality of games and interface is miles better. PC is best though. I built one for around £1800 and have never looked back. I have all of my Adobe software on there and can mess about with music software
