Value and worth, are they the same thing?

So many people falsely believe that these two terms are synonymous when a reasonable assessment would reveal otherwise.

The products worth is simple to determine using demand for the product as a gage.

You keep raising the price until the customer base stops demanding it.

The product is worth what ever you can sell it for. (no more and no less)

I was born into this world naked and broke with only natural currency to spend in order to obtain my sustenance.

That would be “My skills services and time of life” as traded for the fiat currency of a certain nation state.

I have a nationality given by birth in that nation state.

How many times have you heard someone say: “If only they would pay me what I am worth”

Sorry but if you are accepting pay for your skills services and time of life, then you are determining you own worth.

You are worth only what you are willing to sell yourself for. Everyone is getting what they are worth.

Your value has nothing to do with your worth because value is perceived by your customers.

Should your customers find great value in the product you offer, then you may determine it to be worth more and raise the price.

You may determine your worth but your value is determined by those you serve.

Your self assessment concerning your worth is never gonna play into my decision as an employer when setting your pay rate.

Your performance is what I am paying for, not your self assessment.

In short you may determine what you are worth, but you must allow others to determine how valuable you are.

Now a quick and accurate self assessment of my own worth.

As a human being I am worthless to myself for I have worked for nothing up until now. (nothing to show) (perpetually impoverished)

If those administratively regulating my finances at the federal level were determined to reduce me to absolute despotism, they have succeeded.

I have taken a vow of poverty and chosen to work for god exclusively.

Everything in my possession belongs to him.

My value is to be determined by god.

I wish to see if he is able to obtain more for my skills services and time of life than I was able to secure myself.

I did set the bar very low. Nothing can disappoint me now.

I sold my remaining skills services and time of life back to my creator in heaven.

He is personally in charge of all my financial negotiations.

I have good faith reason to believe my value will far outweigh my worth when all is calculated.

I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at those who misunderstand me. I see it differently. My value is intrinsic, and nobody else can take it or give it to me.
What I am worth depends on perceived value and market demand.

Even human relationships are like that. A good man is worth nothing, because he gives for free – not good business.

But if others want something from you, then they will act with respect and will pay a price, if only for the possibility of getting it. Like men orbiting women.

In God I see abundance. I have an abundance of value, and I am self-reliant. I no longer seek outside of me the value I have. I also do not want anything from others.

And I will not give for free. The price I want is respect.

And always reminding myself of the brevity of life .. one day I am sitting and discussing a topic with my Dad, within 48 hours, he is gone. Life is so short, it hurts. Live my friends, today .. tomorrow is only a promissory note .. not guaranteed.

Your opinions are given, not sold. You have all set your price. something is worth what you are willing to trade it for.

everything could have the label that says great value, yet only if others find your product useful will they pay for it.

Myth busters proved that you can in fact polish a TURD, but I have not found a collector of shiny s~~~ as of yet, so I am still flushing mine.

Should you direct my to that collector I will begin rubbing my s~~~ to a shiny glossy finish and promptly pay you a finders fee.

Eh, both words have slightly different meaning depending on context. Sometimes they are pretty much synonymous, other times not.

In regards to the point you were trying to make, I think it’s best described by looking at other products that can be bought and sold, outside of human labor. Take a diamond for example. Diamonds are typically worth a lot. You have to pay a lot of money to buy one, and can get a lot of money when you sell it. They don’t have a lot of value though, as you can’t do very much with it. You usually can get much greater value if you were to spend that money on other products and services. A car is another good example. A new car is worth a lot, but it’s value is always lower, hence why you lose money the second you take it off the lot. A hammer isn’t worth a lot, but it’s very valuable.

When it comes to human labor there are some skills that are very valuable, but not worth a lot since they can’t translate into money well. Take the friend who’s got a truck. His ability to transport stuff for you is valuable, but he’s not going to be able to sell his skills to anyone. A friend who listens well, and will be there when you need him is great value, but again, doesn’t translate to money very well.

So I think you’re point of worth vs value is important. Many people tend to evaluate others based on their worth and not their value, which is shame. In terms of a Christian God though, He does look at us in terms of our worth, but considers us all priceless.
