I agree with this post from ROK. True equality means everyone is on equal footing. No one should get special treatment for anything. Now do any of you think that equality is possible, I don’t! Just look at what is happening in Houston. Not many female first responders. It’s men of all races helping to set things right. Men who are risking their lives to help other people.

Where is the equality in that. So we need to have true equality or women must admit to being the weaker sex. You know, like biology states.

As an active servicemember, I tend to see women in the military as a distraction – it’s a Man’s world.

HOWEVER, that is not to say their contribution is any less meaningful than my own. If a woman can do what I can do without extra requirements, than she is just as useful as I am. …a few years in and I have yet to see that in practice.

An exception is made for the few who use pregnancy as an excuse to avoid any serious obligation and actual usefulness – I’ve seen it. Average military contract is 4 years – get preggo half a year in, ride 9 months scott free, enjoy 3 months of maternity leave and then repeat.

Quick math: That’s two-and-a-half to 3 years of the 4 done and they can ride out the last year doing whatever, if not getting another kid.

Logic guides your actions, emotion guides your morals. Only you may decide how you use them.

I concur, and would add that they must insist on military women performing to the same physical fitness standards as men. Oh, they should also probably have their heads shaved in boot camp, as men do.
