How many years ago was this? Personally, I’m not doing someone’s taxes for free…not today. There are plenty of serves available to do that, not to mention free online services. I’ll give advice on where to go to get help, but I’m not doing anything more than that.

Somewhat related, but I had to bring in my car for repairs this morning. Covered under insurance, including rental car. So Enterprise shuttle car picks me up, and I’m sharing a ride with a single mom. She couldn’t be older than early 20s with a 1 year old toddler with her.

We get to Enterprise and I’m going through the paperwork…provide DL and credit card (or $50 deposit) for incidentals. Single mom is doing the same. Except, she didn’t bring a CC or any money with her. She’s SOL. Now, I can understand her never getting a rental car before, and not knowing she needs to put a deposit down, but how the heck do you leave the house without any money when you have a 1 year old kid with you?

I thought about helping her out. Give her a ride home or to the bank to get money. Something like that. No way am I doing that today. 30 years ago, maybe. Besides, I needed to get to work, and it was obvious from her attire and kid in tow that she had no where she needed to be.
