Eh that is kind of the problem. They are defending a guy(?) that was busy attacking and disrespecting everyone else on here.

You can’t say “we should respect each other’s opinion” and then protect a guy that is attacking other people. Either let people defend themselves or remove the guy that clearly has no respect or civility.

Before large government got involved, in real life the disrespectful person would get punched in the face and shut up that way. If he was strong enough to bully others around he’d do it, but there is almost always someone stronger so eventually they’d get put in their place.

After large government showed up, they made it their mission to protect those that instigate. And so the only thing you could ever really do is either take the other person out quickly and hide it, or run away after you did so, or just try not to be noticed. A big reason MGTOW exists is because the only option that really seemed to be any good was the latter most. I don’t think they really miss us, but they’re beginning to notice.

On the internet, especially on here, this is kind of the last line of defense. Since we can’t punch people in the face through the internet, there is no choice but to moderate and enforce civility. The vast majority of people, especially on here, just want to go about on their own and aren’t looking to attack each other. However you have a few bad apples, and there is no way to universally create a system where those bad apples won’t just keep causing problems. Instead the only thing that makes sense is to get rid of them, and leave everyone else free.

This is actually also an idea rooted in historical American jurisprudence, back when America was a free country of upstanding men. You may be interested in reading Chief Justice Holmes’ essay “The Path of the Law”. It mentions good men vs. bad men, morality of law, and how each reacts to it.
