Maybe “hate” is a strong word, but I’ve seen so many women talk badly about him.
I saw an article by “Christianity Today” (I follow several Christian news sources, being a strong Christian myself) that literally said: “A wife being constantly “available” for sex isn’t enough to keep a lustful spouse from cheating, nor is it a healthy model for marriage, writes Julie Roys.”
I commented, stating that maybe Paul had a point that it was “better not to marry.” I think he had something going. I think he KNEW how bad marriage became. Honestly, the original idea of marriage wasn’t so bad to me. Take care of a woman and kids, and the woman would serve you intimately, and would take care of the kids and home. It was a “do something for me, I’ll do something for you” kind of thing, and I like that idea.
What does some woman tell me in response!?
“Paul’s journey of ‘singleness’ was his personal journey. Not a guide for life unless you are called to be single. God’s description and the picture He drew of human relationships are foundationally built on families. There is no way that you can Biblically support Paul’s Words and life choices as a call intrinsic to the Christian life.”
There is no way I can Biblically support Paul’s words? Does she not hear what she’s saying?! The fragging APOSTLE PAUL, one of the greatest heroes of the Bible (at least to me), and they want to say that I can’t Biblically support singleness? Are these women MAD? I’m not wasting my time debating them, all I’m doing is sending the same message: WHAT BENEFIT DO MEN GET FROM MARRIAGE? Only one responded with: “Wives can give you kids.” My response (though I shouldn’t have responded) was basically “why, so she can take them away later?”
…And I just had some white knight tell me “men don’t NEED to be physically pleased. Paul was celibate.” He’s essentially saying that’s “proof” that we don’t NEED it. So we’re supposed to give up our biological needs while with a woman, but she can do whatever she wants?
I’m an atheist, but I grew up in a church so I know what you’re talking about. I remember being and high school and showing the class leader Paul’s words (1 Corinthians maybe) that it is better for a man to be alone and better serve God rather than be married. Of course he tried to twist the words and treated me like a foolish child. Now that I think about it again, they were always throwing around the question “What would Jesus do?”.. I should’ve pointed out that he was never married, but then they would rationalize that to. The people that go to my parents church go there just to be told what they want to hear. If they actually read the book themselves (yes, without one of those books that tells you how to interpret what it says), they would have to think. It might even challenge their beliefs! I think someone else on this site coined the term, but I just call them Churchians rather than Christians. They hate Paul because what he says keeps them from fulling enjoying there sunday morning circle jerks.
Yeah, a lot of today’s Churchians (I’m loving that term) are all about what makes them “feel good” instead of the actual message that Christianity is supposed to be about. A lot of people I know are okay with criticizing Paul as too “harsh” and “judgmental,” obviously misusing and abusing that cringe-worthy “judge not” verse that I hear all the time spouted by these people (note the verse and its true context is not bad, the misuse of it is). Drives me crazy. Paul was just a straight and blunt guy. Harsh? Sure, let’s go with that. Honest? Absolutely! But Christ Himself was not much different! If Christ is perfect and indeed God in the flesh, should we not note that HE was ALSO a “harsh, judgmental” guy? Considering He was a man without sin, I would say that makes it perfectly fine to be (righteously) judgmental.
But, you know, women don’t like the way Paul’s message “feels,” and that’s why churches don’t cover them enough.
Except Matt Chandler. I wish I had him in my area and not hokey Joel Osteen that the ladies adore.
I just imagined all the books that Paul wrote with a trigger warning at the top. hahahaha.
“The following does not reflect the view of our congregation. Members with a low tolerance for misogyny that was unfortunately prevalent in the time of the author are encouraged to skip to the next chapter.”
What REALLY makes me laugh is that they hate his words (and other parts of the Bible) for being “misogynistic” when a lot of those parts they accuse were being more PROTECTIVE of women. “How DARE a book demand that we should be protected! I’m a strong independent woman who can take care of herself!” Well, okay. You don’t want to be protected? You asked for it…

I see we have something in common. I had religious studies while growing up in the church. I know a lot of atheists who became that after a thorough, logical an unemotional study of it. So much of what the church does with the bible is exactly has been pointed out, rationalization.
If you take a moment to think about it, living your life according to some letters someone wrote to a church 2000 years ago makes no sense.

As an Atheist, let me make something clear-
I can disagree with you on Christianity, but respect you for the fact that, unlike many, it seems you actually read the bible. So many of the “sheeple” sit in the pews, listen to the preacher or read websites like Christianity Today and never bother to pick the bible up and read it. Just like the rest of society they don’t want to be bothered to think and would rather someone else do that for them.
There are a lot of us Atheists who, when it comes down to brass tacks, have no grudge against Christians or others. I don’t need to play the “victim game” like the Atheism Plus fiasco.

Once the pastor at my parent’s church gave a sermon about how when the bible says “the man should be the head of the household” it doesn’t really say “the man should be the head of the household”. It’s a baptist church and they call themselves fundamentalist (Yeah! they is so hardcore!). I think I had to start reading another passage in order to take my focus off of him and not burst into laughter.
My other “favorite” is when they completely tack Adam as the ONLY one who sinned in the Garden of Eden, causing our fall. Granted, he DID disobey and all that, but who was the first to technically rebel and sin? The WOMAN. Eve. She tempted Adam, who sinned and caused the “fall of Man.”
How telling.
In my viewpoint, it’s no coincidence that female nature today is rebellious and so quick and willing to tempt others to do their bidding.
Is there a religion in this world that gives the exact same rules and responsibilities for men and women? As much as I’ve studied the most common religions, there’s always a different set of rules for genders. Maybe christians are a bit more tolerant than muslims or jews and SJW’s use this opportunity to “edit” the New Testament.
Now that Hitlery runs for President, why not cry for a female pope. After all, they might blame Paul for interfering women’s career opportunities in church.1 Timothy 2:12 is a New Testament passage from the pastoral epistle by that name, authored by the Apostle Paul. It is familiarly quoted using the King James Version translation: “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence”.[1] [2] The verse is widely used to oppose women from being trained and ordained as clergy, and from women holding certain other positions of ministry and leadership in large segments of Christianity

I love when they use that verse. It’s like them saying “How DARE you say I can’t lead! I’m a strong Christian woman who can lead and I won’t let ANY man be an authority over me! That’s sexist and disgusting!” Then why do you ladies expect to be served in marriage, then?…
religion is a business and many will say whatever they have to get people in the doors. who cares who women hate? They hate each other more than anybody else.
I bathe in the tears of single moms.

Frank V.I’m right there with you. Anyone that can defend their beliefs and do it calmly get respect from me. I like how you mention Atheism Plus too. Gamergate is the thing that really helped wake me up and completely flush the residual blue pill from my system (and led me to this site). I can’t stand this victim-hood garbage. It’s darn near impossible to have a conversation with anyone without them freaking out because you weren’t PC enough for them. Men should be able to respect each other and be able to speak openly to one another without getting upset.
I don’t see the logic in discussing Marriage in the Bible with t~~~s. That institution which had been given to us by the Creator has nothing to do with what they call marriage today but they’ll keep with the “man’s responsibilities” while ignoring the double-standard weemins enjoy so much because ” that was a long time ago and women’s rights and Patriarchy and blah blah blah” and smear your nose in “maning up” bulls~~~. Different times way different people. Back then you could marry and have kids, be and stay the master in your own house. Now that idea is legally ludicrous
Paul’s view of celibacy comes from the words out of the Savior Himself. Matthew 19:1-12 after the Religious representatives of the time tested Him on Marriage and Divorce laws. His answers baffled and surprised even his disciples who, by then, knew who He was, Paul included.
Going mgtow has nothing to do with Paul’s view. The exceptions are in the text, representative of a time long past and do not represent what mgtow is for me. If I lived in the year of our Lord 100 I’d still be married and providing for my family – or dead on the battlefield – not adopting a self-suvivalist lifestyle in the middle of “civilisation”.Don't let them Blame, Shame or Tame you!
Give 'em NOTHING, not even an answer!
#GenderSegragationNow!Mgtow and christian living has its similarities. If you are doing it right, the world will hate you and you do it because you seek something beyond your basic physical desires.

Anonymous42Eve POISONED Adam, it’s been like that ever since, UNTIL MGTOW! Boom, crash, bang!
If God wants to see her married and having kids- he can come down, marry her and knock him up himself.
“It says so in this book” is not a good reason to me.
Frank V.
god knocked up mary right ?

Yeah, and that sucker Joseph got stuck with raising the kid.
Sucker !
