I was at a technical strategy group meeting yesterday for the engineering company I work for. Basically everyone in the division I work in who is a senior engineer or higher was invited. It wasn’t mandatory to attend but strongly recommended.

Of the people who turned up, all except one were men. This is not because there aren’t any female engineers or managers of the required seniority, as about 20-30% are female. The one female who did show up was not an engineer but an accountant.

Feminists bitch that women aren’t given opportunities in STEM fields but when given the opportunity to contribute to a highly technical event, requiring significant lateral and strategic thinking, and taking a bit of responsibility they don’t even bother to turn up.

Men invited who turned up: About 90%
Women invited who turned up: Less than 5% (one individual)

I have seen this at several other similar events.

When some difficult or strategic thinking is required, female staff seem to disappear. Some of these women are supposed to be team managers.

I have no idea whether it is coincidence (hah), not wanting or not being able to contribute or if it just seems like a bit too much like hard work for them.

I’ve already seen emails from the female contingent bitching that decisions were made without them, and they refuse to be held accountable for those decisions.

My honest response of “Do your f~~~ing job, you lazy, incompetent, entitled slag-bags!” probably wouldn’t go down too well.

Not ever once in my life have I witnessed an assertive woman, outside the context of sex and individual self centered advantage, take control. They “cling on” instead of driving the spear and being in the front, and seeing what other’s have to bring to the table based in their real world knowledge and real world effort!

BACK SEAT DRIVERS are why I prefer to take on my own stem career by myself! My efforts are my rewards slags>>> just slow me down!

I know about team effort, it only works with men! We give it the necessary EFFORT! Women are not leaders, they’re self focused at best, or they’re followers!

Followers of what? Certainly not MEN!

They are absent from their natural duties with each gynocentric step.

90% vs. 0%, you said yourself she’s an accountant, that’s not science and tech.

Very true. She still leads a team of engineers though, despite there being some excellent technical people in her team.

But wouldn’t you rather sacrifice her with all the other slags and trade them for a group of 90%-ers’??? Time to pull the stick of equality out of the mud and let that which will rise to the top, rise to the top, and let that which will sink to the bottom, sink to the bottom, and f~~~ all GENDER AND ETHNIC QUOTAS BY LAW!

Wassamatta ladies? Afraid men will rise to the top? Certain races, certain creeds? Certain way’s of thinking and believing?

LETS HAVE SOME REAL EQUALITY! WHERE THINGS EQUALLY FLOAT AND EQUALLY SINK!

Just out of curiosity without knowing anything about your employer, Would they have a Male Accountant “lead a team of engineers” ?

Something, smells fishy with this one. (Pun Intended)

    Absolutely

A male accountant leading a team of engineers – definitely not. The economics modelling team of which she used to be part was disbanded and a role was found for her.

She got the role ahead of many better qualified engineers. The chap who did the interviewing for that position told me that she was not on his final shortlist but she was given the role anyway. HR (all female) were in attendance at every interview and apparently the interview scores were weighted “fairly”.

Nothing new at my old place all the hard work gets assigned to men by the female manager at the time cause she knew the Bros were better whenever one of the females try to do something harder they forget after we show them or ask for so much help we end up doing all the work or fixing their s~~~. Than after they complain about pay or the fact that all the men who got s~~~ on all got promoted out of that department to a higher department, women want the status but not the work of a harder gig.

From my experience, there are plenty of women who work hard, but few women who work smart. Plenty of them will work overtime, but often don’t have results. They will often screw up their efforts by p~~~ing off their coworkers with a disrespectful and s~~~ty attitude.

I’m involved in a project right now with a woman project manager. She likes to think she’s tough and can control a meeting, yet many of her meetings get out of control. She will create tasks that need to be completed for the project, but refuse to actual assign them to anyone (someone will step up and take it, she says). The project has been going on for a year now, but she still seems to be confused about some of the technical aspects of the project. She likes to jokingly refer to her meetings as ‘torture’, not really grasping the constant negative connotation she’s sending to project members. She absolutely works hard, but lacks simple results.

    Ok. Then do it.

I’ve seen a similar phenomenon where I work. Engineers are required to prepare slides for, and attend, a lengthy monthly meeting where we justify our continued employm— I mean, explain our progress to people who don’t understand what we’re doing, and who think that having an engineering department is a waste of money.

A representative from every other department is also supposed to attend: manufacturing, accounting, HR, customer service, etc. Some of these (manufacturing, CS) are men, and they do attend every meeting. Others… are women, and all but the one who takes notes have simply quit showing up (claiming to be too busy… hell, we’re not doing this dog-and-pony show for OUR amusement — the least they could do is have enough respect for our time to attend a meeting that’s held for THEIR benefit).

Haha, because such event does NOT make them FEEL GOOD.

Meeting with women is frustrating anyway; so their not participating is doing us a favor.
