About 5 years ago at uni, I began getting the feels for this girl I sutdied with. In short, she was a mum of 2 with a long criminal record of burglary, and holding up post-offices, an ex convict, and lived with Chad – who she claimed to hate. She’d had a boob job and wasn’t actually that good with social skills.

Anyway, we got a little closer, and exchanged numbers. Then suddenly one day I get a text out of the blue asking me to go and help her change her locks whilst Chad was at work. I’m extremely embarrassed to say I agreed immediately, and even polished the inside of my car for when we drove to the hardware store – lol.

Within 20 minutes she called it off, and it was pretty obvious she didn’t really want anything more to do with me after that. In hindsight, I reckon I failed some s~~~ test or other, or became too available and therefore less of a man.

To put a cherry on top of your statement, when they stopped mending or sewing, cooking, doing laundry or bringing a cold drink, we did it for ourselves. And what we quickly realized is that their part of the bargain was practically nothing. I can sew (or buy something new), I can cook and clean, and I damn sure can put a few ice cubes in a glass. The arrangement was about 95/5 in their favor and they were p~~~ed off that they had to carry 5% of the load.

So hey, no problem. I’ll add 5% to my load in exchange for not doing any favors for a chick. That’s the best deal I’ve had handed to me in a long time.

Not quite. It wasn’t about you at all. It was all about her and the eternal competition between women for status. She was trying to make herself look superior to them by showing off her ability to get their gas tanks connected. You were nothing more than her intended tool for that purpose.

She wasn’t trying to set you up or doing you any favor, though she might have tried to imply that to manipulate you to her cause.
