Been watching a lot of bushcraft on You Tube, it reminded me of a time when I was a kid. My dad took me winter camping for a long weekend. Had a blast! I thought it was “survival”, To dad it was just time alone with his son out in the cold,(he had things under control).

Anyone here do winter camping or practice bushcraft? Below is a general link to a lot of bushcraft adventures.

I’ve been watching these also recently. Pretty interesting and informative.
I remember a massive blizzard when I was a kid. Electricity was out for almost a week but we survived just fine in our basement with a wood stove and necessary supplies. No phone. No news. No radio. No problem.
As helpless and dependent as most people are today, it would be an unthinkable disaster.

    Lets see.
Yes, I kind of enjoy winter camping.
I have a complete “winter camping” wall tent ensemble, I also have a “winterized” camper. All my “camping” gear is geared to arctic survival and I have managed to live rather comfortably in various types of terrain under winter/arctic conditions.
I actually have a similar wall tent as in the video, just heavier canvas (same supplier/mfr BTW) with a custom made liner, heavy duty arctic stove, insulated stove pipes and an articulating cap so I can adjust it for winds/snow.
I enjoy these videos because I can learn new tricks, or refresh my knowledge/skills.
2017, I spent 2 months straight in my tent during the winter, 2018 I was in my camper from sept – dec

Most of my friends think I spend waaaay too much time camping these days lol.

-34 fuuuuuck that . Been in just under 0 . Had to pack news paper in my jacket . – 34 i would look like a f~~~in rap dancer .

F~~~ this thread is cold .

    Someun need lide a fire

When people here get lost in national parks especially in winter under estimate how cold it can get in the valley’s .

Arseholes want to open up an old horse trail . It was forgotten with 3 tags on the hole route back when i was young . There was a bloke who travelled it regularly. Pretty shore light horse had the map of the old trail . Long trail i can see it now . Winter c~~~s will underestimate the cold in those valleys for sure . Hope the c~~~s are snake lovers that do the track too . It should be left alone . More s~~~ c~~~s are going to f~~~ . They will all be pussy yuppy f~~~s too with pretty joggers and s~~~ . Not far from this trail is a place once known to early settlers as death add valley . One spot across from there is a mass of big boulders all along the edge of fresh water . In summer you can get along jumping from boulder to boulder . You look down between them and snakes are f~~~ing everywhere . They sit between the rocks as it acts as a trap for animals comming down for water rats . Wouldn’t want to slip down between the boulders . Good fishing spot but .

Edit . It did snow on a ridge when i was a kid but i never seen it .

Out would get a dead kangaroo and hang it over a branch over a creek . Maggots drop off it into the water . Fish or basket under neath .

Blade, Thas some funny S~~~! lol
You gotta get that Australian blood a bit colder. The Northern lattitudes will do it. Dun worry, you won’t freeze to death. Some good gear will keep you nice and warm.

I thought that looked like hans ” blue jacket so i was going to find something funny till i stumbled on this . F~~~ his jacket wasn’t blue .

    Clip runs 51 secs

I actually have a very expensive dark grey jacket i bought long ago . Ties up around your eyes .

We get paralyzes ticks that burrow in your head . Leeches . When i took my kids on adventures always new to put there hats on . Now there older they really still hold good memories.

Use to keep snakes venomous but not deadly . They could come and go . Had one never left near my back step . Always on the second step . He had someone hit him with a shovel . So he was more of a pet who never wanted to leave . Sit on the back step of a summers morning having a coffee he would sometimes slide in under my legs and curl up in the sun . Kids use to just step over him . They grew up with it . The courts tried using that with a dumb arse barrister saying to the judge that i should kill them as they were a danger . It is a massive fine here for killing snakes . It can collapse eco systems . I would catch them for people for free so they didn’t try killing them with spades and shovels . Thats were people get bitten . Some snakes a shovel will bounce of them .

Use to have compression bandages . If bitten you need to keep still and calm . Never wash the bite so they can tell what it is .

Met a man once who was bitten by a tiger snake . Those f~~~ers don’t bite once they keep biting . He was on a walking stick after really f~~~ed up . Went the shovel dumb .

If snakes are around they are there for a reason . Snakes have different temprements too . A snake doesn’t want to bite a person . The venom they don’t want to waste on something they cannot eat .

Actually that bit in court my ex even said that wasnt an issue . Because when we lived together we had a play area out side with a back garden near the door . Use to have two monitors . My youngest learning to walk they would eat the food she would drop . They would go in the garden if we came out . Didn’t like people close to them but they seen my kid as a food source . My ex yelled out once to come and look at this . My toddler holding this f~~~ing lizard hanging over her arms relaxed as . Like these f~~~ers have claws for climbing in trees .

My father had some water dragons he use to hand feed .

Reptiles arent as stupid as people think .

In the mad max 2 movie the part where he hisses to catch the snake . Lol snakes cant hear . Vibration stomp your feet .

You can cut your lawn down to low as and they can be sliding threw that grass and you won’t even know they are there .

Even along our beaches there are red belly blacks mostly . People walk past and wouldnt have a clue . If you are going and f~~~ing with them well you will get bitten .

F~~~ with them you will get bitten . Look dont touch .

Sorry bros use were talking snow . My mind wonders .

Used to many moons ago. Can’t find anyone to even regular camp with anymore and it’s a d@mn shame. Still have my Slumberjack bag rated to 30 below (they don’t make that model anymore); am ready in case the power goes out and it makes an awesome occasional comforter.

    Grumpy, J.B.,……

Wouldn’t it be great if we could put something together? Just MGTOW MEN out in the wilderness ?? Have a big fire every night. Play cards in the tent. Snowmobiles, 4 wheelers.

Better yet,… may-b not! (somebody might get goofy and wind up hurting themself.)
Gotta admit: would be amusing to get those “warm-blooded” guys out of their element.

Honestly though, crapping in the wild for an extended period of time greatly improves ones appreciation for porcelain in a non windy area.

With all the s~~~ that kill you in Australia, makes me wonder why so many men don’t just use the get out of divorce rape free card down there? 🙂

Also, you let kids arounds snakes? You know… I am scared of no man. But just ONE stinging insect?

About camping… I’ll be at the Ski Lodge drinking a Moroccan coffee with a proper caramelised sugar rim. Large fireplace roaring with a proper stone hearth.

Mud is for 4×4’s not boots. Snow is for SnowCats and intertubes. And AWD Drifting. Blessed those that Haldex and Quaife.

Maybe I was just with the wrong Boy SCout troop, but when it got bad and windy, we stuck it out in the warm lodge.
I could handle a cabin in the woods, but even my old Treehouse had an electric cord going to it. Sucks. I always wanted to make one of those with my kids. Never got the chance.

You know I remember as a kid we would make a tree house and it was nothing more then a Pallet that we found and put up there. We use to drag up from the train tracks and industrial areas. Sometimes the apartments around. Sometimes people has them in front of the house just as junk. Those days I wish I had a dad around.

Always struck me that other fathers just seemed to busy to care about doing these things. Fixing bikes, or even just simple things to build memories with their kids. As soon as the Nintendo came in, that’s all there was.

The closest thing I ever got to really taking my kids camping, was in the form of an Ikea Play tent. damn.

You are all alone. If you have been falsely accused of RAPE, DV, PLEASE let all men know about the people who did this. http://register-her.net/web/guest/home
