School me,
Will the new import taxes Trump is going to put on goods made outside the United States raise prices?
Just those items or are we looking at a few months to a year of increased costs?
Opinions wanted as much as facts here. .
Thanks! Will the new import taxes Trump is going to put on goods made outside the United States raise prices?
Opinion – Ab-sa-f~~~ing-lutely!
But … it’s not his fault. The American dollar, the federal reserve note, is worth less then when it was created. By fiat currency standards, it should have died a few years ago. Good luck during the currency collapse Hitman. Somehow, I think you’ll be fine. 😉
Thanks Blaque..
I’ve doubled down on basic goods like toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, ammo, various types of alcohol and canned goods.
Rice, propane, lighters, silver coins, motor oil and filters and hope that a year or so will level off any price hikes..
Candles, heat sources for cooking and extra soap for washing. .
I buy a little extra every time I shop.
Eventually I’ll use it but don’t want to pay more later for what I can get now..
Anonymous6Yes they will in the short term. Companies leave the U.S to go overseas to make cheap goods at lower costs and then they sell BACK into the U.S. at a lower cost. So the companies are making more money selling s~~~ty products. What Trump will do is provide incentives for companies to stay in the U.S. , and make their goods here instead.
Those incentives will be cut regulations, lowering the corporate tax rate from 37% (3rd highest in the world), to 15% tax rate. Those incentives allow companies to immediately hire more people. However, when goods are made in the U.S., they will be more expensive because they cost more to produce. The benefit to that is products that will last longer.
So to answer your question, yes the prices will raise in the short term and level out in the long term, as long as the federal reserve and stock market don’t hike interest rates to high, and inflation is under control. The benefit to Trump’s policies are more people being put to work, which allows more families to have the things they want and need. All of which stimulates the economy, and is good for business.
Any other questions, Im on a roll now brotha

Anonymous42The monetary printing alone will raise prices, less government intrusion is the only path to a vibrant free market, but that was destroyed on Dec. 23, 1913 by the federal reserve note.
I’m so glad I’m not dependent on heating oil! You have to insulate yourself from economic manipulation (economic extortion and financial terrorism) the trust is DUST! F~~~ing airborn atomized DUST! FALLOUT!
All the amazing things they won’t be able to do to preppers is endless!
This has been a long time coming, any and all economic recovery will be felt by and consumed by the GOVERNMENT then back to poverty and struggling for the people!
KEEP THE FREE STUFF FLOWING TO THE GOVERNMENT PENSION AND WELFARE SYSTEM, THE FREE MARKET IS DEAD! SO IS THE REPUBLIC! TRUST NOTHING!
Not all products made overseas are ‘s~~~ty’. Look at the reliability of German or Japanese goods.
The problem with international trade is the huge and unsustainable trade DEFICITS within a system of fiat currency.
Any restrictions on imports will raise prices, just like increasing the minimum wage will raise prices. That isn’t opinion, it’s basic economics.
Unfortunately, Trump’s ‘incentives’ to companies like Carrier, look much like Obama’s ‘incentives’ to Solyndra (the solar start-up the government helped fund under the Obamination). That is, picking winners and losers — specific, large companies get government handouts, to cater to politician’s interest groups/base. Small businesses burn since they don’t get the handouts.
Like Venom said, if you want more domestic manufacturing, LOWER the corporate income tax below all our competitors. LOWER the taxes and reduce the regulation. If Trump and the Depublicans ACTUALLY do that, it will revive manufacturing.
Of course, to do it, we would need to ALSO cut government spending OR suffer ever larger deficits. I’m not seeing evidence of massive cuts to government spending being planned, or the will to enact them. So I’m skeptical. BUT at least the public is being educated about HOW to create growth.
Thought it may be wishful thinking, maybe more expensive consumer goods will provide enough sticker shock to make people think twice about going into debt to obtain more “stuff”.
The Children of Doom... Doom's Children. They told my lord the way to the Mountain of Power. They told him to throw down his sword and return to the Earth... Ha! Time enough for the Earth in the grave.Well, if it comes down to it, everything is free…if you can run fast enough.
Trump’s polices will likely cause deflation of prices. This helps the people.

Thanks!Fact is that Saudi Arabia is VERY angry at the American voter for not voting in their stooge Hillary along with their spy Huma Abedin. So they are going to retaliate with higher prices.

This is why same people in D.C. that get the Saudi’s checks are so rabid against Russia. Russia is importing oil as well. Also, the U.S. has been pumping out oil. This is why the EPA was invented, to stop the U.S. from producing anything.
It has been reporting the Saudi leadership has over extended themselves and if oil drops much lower they are going to lose control of Saudi Arabia.

Howdy FFS! I was quoting the same quote at the same time as you! Don’t worry America, Canada has some oil for you! However, if you could put your dog Fonda back on a leash, that would be greatly appreciated. She’s right about our mangina Prime Minister though.

So glad you guys elected Trump. I can’t imagine if killary was at the helm.
I’d say that prices should already be higher then what they are now. As usual, government has been keeping us in a bubble to placate the population, which only makes things worse in the long run.
Anyway, what we expect to happen.
– Corporate taxes lowered.
– Personal taxes lowered (which will encourage more spending)
– Tariffs raised.I’d say prices raise in the short term, but level out to what they should be in the long term. I don’t know that job creation is going to be that high. I’d be cautious in investing in labor, knowing taxes can go up again, plus minimum wage. I’d invest in tech as a business owner, to be honest.
I’ve said it before, but as far as import tax goes, I think they should be done with the principle of laying the playing field. A tax that compensates for human rights and regulations American businesses are subjected to, but others (China) are not. How in the world can a liberal complain about that?

Which would be spectacular as far as I’m concerned. That encourages both energy independence as well as investing in alternative energy sources and energy conservation. Consumers hate higher gas and utility prices, but seriously, the long term is good all around.
Ok. Then do it.
I think what you need to ask yourself is has moving production overseas saved consumers any money? I don’t think it has. Look at sneakers for example…you can buy a pair of New Balance made here in the states for what…100 bucks? Or you can buy a pair of Nike sneakers made in Vietnam for…100 bucks? I’m not against companies making profit…but our current laws are just beyond f~~~ing stupid where we incentivize companies to move to cheaper countries then import their products with no taxes and run up their profit margins…its only a matter of time before all our wealth moves overseas if we keep this up.
Besides that, I think that is only looking at half the equation. If these policies are successful in cultivating a few million middle class jobs, as compared to the minimum wage part time retail and food service jobs Obama’s administration has “created,” even if prices did go up a bit its still a net win for society if we turn millions of people from leeches into self sufficient, contributing members of society. My biggest expense last year was taxes…it would be a net win for me if my taxes dropped a bit even if some of my other expenses increased slightly because of it.

This is why same people in D.C. that get the Saudi’s checks are so rabid against Russia. Russia is importing oil as well. Also, the U.S. has been pumping out oil. This is why the EPA was invented, to stop the U.S. from producing anything.

‘Russia is importing oil as well’? Russia is the second largest EXPORTER of oil in the world, not a net IMPORTER. Sure, they may import some oil when it’s advantageous due to transport costs, refinery capacity, etc. But, that is insignificant. The entire kleptocratic regieme and economy in Russia is based on oil & gas revenues which comprise around 30% of the economy.
I thought the EPA’s purpose was to help us Americans produce more PAPERWORK! So it’s worked! Except maybe when the businesses close completely, then there’s less paperwork?
Saudi Arabia has a sovereign wealth fund of $675 billion. So they’ve got about $20,000 socked away for each of their ~31 million citizens. The deficit in 2016 was only about $79 billion, a little over 1/10 of the value of the sovereign wealth fund. Now, in 2015 it was 5 times that. So even at low oil prices, they can survive — but eventually must diversify the economy as oil runs out. Or maybe rely more upon tourism. Hajj Disneyland anyone?
Saudi Arabia is basically an unholy alliance between the Wahabbist religious leaders and the royal family.
After 9/11, the President should have dropped the Oil Bomb on the Mideast instead of invading it. The Oil Bomb would have comprised:
1.) NO taxation — corporate, or income, for domestic oil and natural gas production for the next 50 years, effective on 9/12 (would require congressional approval).
2.) NO corporate taxation or personal income taxation for any DOMESTICALLY produced crude oil refined in the US for the next 50 years.
3.) NO taxation for coal liquefaction
4.) Immediate elimination of all foreign aid to Egypt, Israel, and everybody else!Does deflation really help the economy? Well, Japan has a debt to GDP ratio over 200%, unemployment went up, and so did suicides.

Man I have an image saved about the Saudi situation being a damn s~~~storm in the making. With it’s multiple wealthy princes being passed over for line of succession, crazy amounts of international mercenaries with modern military equipment, and etc. Problem is even if go look for it on my external hard drive, it will still probably be too low res to read properly and have the MGTOW logo on it. Wish we could have some privileges for vets to upload and post full images.
i like to return to threads i start.
seems like a courtesy owed.
