So, in this latest round of news, there is an issue about protesting during the national anthem, or not protesting. One has to pick a side.

My question is, why the hell should I care what people do or don’t do during a national anthem? So long as they don’t get on my nerves, why is it an issue? Why should I care also about what any political figure thinks or not thinks, or have some play some guilt card on me, either to be an activist, or to be a “patriot”? What do I gain by being dragged into this? If I pay my taxes, and don’t get in the way of others, why care?

You’re a big boy, it’s your decision. If it doesn’t bother you, fine. It’s a big deal to some, it isn’t to others.

I personally find it disrespectful to those who have given more to this country than they ever will. I’m voting with my viewership and my money. The NFL is frankly being hypocritical. They don’t let players make positive political statements but they’ll let the players do this anti-Trump protest. If they want to publicly p~~~ on those who fought and died for our freedom in a forum that’s meant for entertainment, not political statements, then I choose not to watch them or give them a single cent of my money.

Whatever the case may be, no one can tell you whether or not to care. This is your path; you’re going your way, not mine. Make the decision that’s right for you.

You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. Just know the majority of Americans disagree with you. It is disrespectful to the men and women of our military and everyone who holds it in high regard. It’s about politics. The NFL has a guideline in its own manual that all players must stand for the national anthem and now they are choosing not to enforce their own rules. When they have no problem enforcing rules that any other time.

I’d like to get as close as I can to them, and flip them the double bird.

All my life I've had doubts about who I am, where I belonged. Now I'm like the arrow that springs from the bow. No hesitation, no doubts. The path is clear. And what are you? Alive. Everything else is negotiable. Women have rights; men have responsibilities; MGTOW have freedom. Marriage is for chumps. I haven’t been standing for National Anthems for a decade now, nobody has ever asked me why in a Stadium… Know what I would say if they did? None of your f~~~ing business.

I think civilians have a right to sit, kneel, or whatever during the playing of the national anthem. If some people truly feel that they are victims of injustice, I’m not going to shame them for their protest. It’s their life, and it’s a free country.

    HOWEVER…

…it seems to me that no player in the NFL is socially oppressed in any way. They have the best that America has to offer: money, fame, social status, easy sex, and free Gatorade. Personally, I would be happy to salute the American flag, since it represents my good fortune of being born in a country that gave me the opportunity to make MILLIONS OF DOLLARS and spend my post-athletic years not worrying about bills and expenses. The American flag also represents millions of people who have protested for civil rights for minority races. Some of those protesters were killed. If I was a football star, and concerned about people who are experiencing injustice, I would donate a million dollars to their legal defense fund instead of taking a knee.

If putting my hand over my heart will help the morale of my audience—who will gleefully spend $100 to $10,000 on a stadium ticket for a single goddamn game—I will do it for $100,000,000 dollars! No problem! Hell, how many of you wouldn’t?

Like I said, I’m just speaking for myself.

If you look at the Social Security website, you’ll notice that the number of Americans that make more than $20,000,000 a year is extremely low compared to those that make $50,000 a year. These NFL players are very, VERY fortunate and well compensated for their hard work.

I think it would be better if they protested outside of the stadium during their own free time. They could ask the public to donate money to any charity that helps bring about the kind of social justice that they’re seeking. They’d get more sympathy from the general public that way instead of creating a visual distraction during a solemn moment.

It’s a football game. Not the time to make personal political statements.

They can do that crap on their own time off the field and out of uniform.

I’m done with the nfl anyway. Never was a sports guy but ever since the pink s~~~ mangina bs, they are dead to me, this just makes them more dead.

And I say good riddance. IF this is what they are turning into it deserves to go bankrupt and all those guys with their “skills” that play games that MEAN NOTHING AT ALL in the real world, can go broke and work regular jobs and wonder how they blew it all up.

    Let it all burn.

The whole kneeing during the anthem thing is a load of bulls~~~ just to distract people from the bigger picture. See the whole thing is about publicity and to get attention to the NFL and to give the NFL money as people buying X last names Jersey in order to burn it or destroy it still produces and gives money to the NFL.

Same with buying the Jersey for the guy who stands for the anthem as in both cases the NFL profits as they are making money and finally it is the same with burning season tickets as well. If you actually pay for a product by the NFL only to destroy it the NFL still made their money. There are only 2 ways the NFL can be hurt due to this.

Either 1 you must steal NFL products and then burn them. This is hard as hell simply because security at the NFL games is high and if you try stealing something a dozen cops will beat your head in (NFL security is high due to anything that could happen whether it be terroristic or just riots) and if you steal from a store often times they are insured against theft as they use it as a write off.

The second way which i have been doing for a few years even thou i am all for desecration for anything and everything is simply by not watching the games and not buying anything from the NFL. The most the NFL gets out of my ass is when i google X standing or Y game score.

I don’t watch the games on TV, i do not listen to them on the radio, i do not actively follow football or buy tickets to any of their games etc.

Just an east coast asshole who likes to curse, If you get offended by words like fuck, cunt, shit, piss, bitch or any racial slurs then you just scroll down.

It’s about respect for all those who’ve given it up for the freedoms we live and enjoy, and for those NFL sons of bitches to do what they’re doing which is disrespecting the fallen and the nation. This nation did them a great service that they wouldn’t of gotten anywhere else and they spit on it! F~~~ing losers!

It doesn’t bother me, but I just think they picked the wrong venue. Football players are well paid, but most weren’t born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Many of them grew up in the projects and busted their ass to get to where they are, IN SPITE of their upbringing. So I understand if they don’t see America the way a middle class kid from the suburbs sees it.

The problem in my opinion is that by choosing to kneel during the National Anthem, they are trying to bring attention to race relations in America, but the people on the other side see it as a patriotism issue. They aren’t hearing what you are saying. Now, maybe they don’t want to hear it, but they have been given an “out” for not listening. So pick a different venue. I don’t know what that venue is, but it’s too easy to be ignored when patriotism is in the mix.

    Here’s the deal.

The fans pay a lot of money to sit in that stadium to watch a football game. Not to be protested at. Imagine every time you went into a store and brought an item to the checkout and paid, you weren’t given your merchandise until you listen to the cashier perform a protest of some sort.
    Would you like that?

Employees surrender their free speech rights when working. The employer gets to control how they interact with the customer and behave on the job. Employment can be terminated for failing to comply.

The NFL has allowed these protests to go on for over a year, while consistently blocking players from other political actions. Like wearing a sticker to honor murdered cops, and the victims of 911. So the NFL is giving the fans a big FU and charging them to watch a protest that many people (myself included) find offensive.

You want to protest, GREAT! Do it on your own time on your own dime. Do not make me pay to watch you insult my country. I am not watching the NFL anymore. I will stick to the local minor league sports in my area from now on. It keeps the money closer to home, and I don’t pay to watch political bulls~~~.

Imagine if every time you went into a store for something you had to first stand while someone sang the National Anthem, sponsored by the Military… Now what if you are not cool with what the Military has been doing the last 15 years?

I say do away with it altogether.

With that all said, I haven’t been standing for the Anthem for over a decade now, not for the reasons these dumb s~~~ NFL dudes are, but the fact remains, why do it at all if it is going to cause problems?

I would take a bullet to the head before I stood for a National Anthem.

The national anthem playing isn’t sponsored by the military. Why do you insist on espousing this nonsense? The national anthem is done on rodeos, wrestling shows, and every sports from pop warner to major league. In some instances it’s even done before live theatre performances. It has nothing to do with the military at all.

The military pays these sports companies like MLB and NFL etc to promote the military itself. Like flying military planes overhead, airing military commercials, or having veterans and armed forces members shown on the field, or throw the first pitch, or whatever. THAT is stuff that’s sponsored by the military and the government. Not the national anthem.

That would be fine as long as the NFL pays back the taxpayers for the stadiums, and we remove the Anti-trust and non-profit protections from the NFL. Its quite a bargain for the NFL to get billions from the government in exchange for playing the anthem.

I don’t agree with everything America does, and no one ever will. We would all have to be mindless clones for that to be true. But the good of America far outweighs the bad IMO. America is the most diverse culture on the planet. The anthem and the flag help bind us together into a nation. If you reject the this nation, why are you still living here? Wouldn’t you be happier elsewhere?

I think the entire premise of their protest is bull s~~~. Let’s call ourselves black lives matter…then ignore 99% of violence against blacks because it comes from other blacks. Oddly enough blacks also commit a disproportionate amount of violent crime, and crime in general…yet…BLM is silent about that as well.

If they had a legitimate platform I’d be sympathetic towards them even if I disagreed with how they are trying to get their message out.

Besides that…all these professional athletes have access to a tremendous amount of resources and wealth…and if they truly believe in their “cause” why is it none of them are actually doing anything to fix the issue other than kneeling during the anthem? I’d have farm more respect for them if they were out speaking out against all violence, being positive role models, and donating money to crime ridden impoverished areas to help pull them out of the gutter…but they aren’t. Many of them are thug assholes that are s~~~ty role models that spend more money on partying and drugs than they do actually helping others.

I consider the realm of activism, BLM, social justice warriors, Tradcon culture warriors, and this whole lot of the supposed “fight for the hearts and minds of America” to be a bunch of parasites who seek to distract me from what I need to, to fight battles, that if they win, I still don’t get anything. I am far better off just going about doing my own business, trying to get a better job, and doing some tabletop game designs. Let this entire thing rot, and don’t let me get sucked in.

But, feel free to fill your free time with it. I am going my own way.

On this note, I can respect the nation I am in. I can speak well of it when it does right and so on. I can play by the rules, and look to make myself more independent. I can pay taxes. But this whole realm of public displaces of affection (or disaffection) for a country, is the realm of political posers who try to fit in out of fear of being looked at funny by strangers.

I am reminded now of Penn and Teller’s burning the flag magic trick:

There is a part about how dictatorships can’t stand ambiguity, and it doesn’t matter to them what you believe, just so long as everyone believes the same thing.

My favorite pet peeve. I don’t have a dog in this fight. Sorry but you do. Sooner or later the events of what is going on, the NFL is overall just a fraction of the larger picture will come and interact with you directly.
It is a whole agenda. Antifa, BLM, NFL protest, men now can go into the ladies room and take a wiz, just as a start. It is a social cultural change.

The only question is when do you say it stops here it stops now.

A lot of people can do something about the NFL and making a small change. First steps.
