    http://www.forbes.com/sites/larissafaw/2011/11/11/why-millennial-women-are-burning-out-at-work-by-30/

“Young professional women may not relate to the financial struggles their Millennial peers are protesting against during the Occupy New York movement. After all, these ambitious go-getters are working as doctors, lawyers, engineers, and advertising executives, blessed with great salaries, health benefits, and paid vacation.

But these women understand the protestors’ frustration and unhappiness over the fact that their lives aren’t supposed to turn out this way. This is why a growing number of young professional women who seem to “have it all” are burning out at work before they reach 30.

These early career flameouts are reflected through the corporate ladder. Today, 53% of corporate entry-level jobs are held by women, a percentage that drops to 37% for mid-management roles and 26% for vice presidents and senior managers, according to McKinsey research. Men are twice as likely as women to advance at each career transition stage. One rationale is that men are more likely than women to do things that help their personal wellbeing at work, thus negating burnout, according to the Captivate Network. Men are 25% more likely to take breaks throughout the day for personal activities, 7% more likely to take a walk, 5% more likely to go out to lunch, and 35% more likely to take breaks “just to relax.”

It seems relaxation is something Millennial women have never experienced. One reason that women are burning out early in their careers is that they have simply reached their breaking point after spending their childhoods developing well-rounded resumes. “These women worked like crazy in school, and in college, and then they get into the workforce and they are exhausted,” says Melanie Shreffler of the youth marketing blog Ypulse.

Many also didn’t think of their lives beyond landing the initial first job. “They need to learn life is a marathon, not a sprint,” says Kelly Cutrone, president of People’s Revolution PR and author of “If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You.” Ypulse’s Shreffler adds, “They expected things to be better now that they’ve arrived and made it. But instead they are starting over on the bottom rung and still striving. You can’t see the end of the tunnel because they are so many twists and turns. It’s impossible to see what life will be like in 20 years these days. It’s hard to look just 3-4 years in the future. They don’t know what they are striving for, which makes it really hard to move forward.”

Even those who did plot out their lives past the initial first career have unrealistic expectations about full-time employment. It’s not as if these women expected their jobs to be parties and good times, but many underestimated the actual day-to-day drudgery. “College is nothing more than a baby-sitting service. These students are totally unprepared for the real world. The reality for women who want to work in PR is that they are going to be working with 24 catty [women] who will backstab and compete with them. No one will say thank you. You will eat lunch at 5 p.m. It sucks and it’s hard work,” says Cutrone.

All of this unhappiness has left young women struggling over their next move. Simply quitting or changing careers isn’t an option because the education for their professional jobs has burdened them with substantial student debt. Also, while earlier generations may have opted out of the workforce through marriage or motherhood, these paths aren’t viable for these self-sufficient women, who either are still single or unwilling to be fully supported by men.

Instead, Millennial women are tapping into their Type-A personalities to combat this fatigue. “It’s important to analyze what is causing the dissatisfaction,” says Purdue University’s Teri Thompson. “The old adage, ‘Out of the frying pan and into the kettle’ is filled with wisdom: often we leave a job because of unhappiness and in our zeal to get away, we fall right back into the same traps, the same situations.” Therefore, these women are requesting more flexible schedules or seeking different work responsibilities. Many are turning to therapists and prescription medicines, as well as explore alternative remedies, including acupuncture, yoga, and even psychics.

Ultimately these women are going through the difficult realization that they may have to redefine their goals and come up with different measures of success in order to thrive in the corporate world, says Thompson. “It often takes many years to really understand one’s strengths and where one finds happiness. In a sense, I do think it’s unrealistic to assume a long sought-after job can bring one such happiness that one’s searching is done. We’re all a work in progress; new inputs—from new friends to new places visited—mean we’re constantly changing in our thoughts of what’s desired, what’s possible, what’s fun, what we want to do.”

    let them implode.

This is what you want, this is what you get.

I am still stuck on what is happiness? If all my physical emotional and economic needs are met, is that happiness?

How can they take breaks from not working? All women ever do is gossip and play on their phones all day long. I have never seen a woman actually work. They don’t f~~~ing work.

If not for affirmative action and government forced hiring and retention policies, no successful company would ever hire women. They are a net liability. Everyone knows it. Hence why they are mostly employed in harmless departments such as HR or marketing, where they can’t do as much damage. However even there they do damage, fiddling with the A/C or refusing to follow company dress code, and forcing sexual harassment workshops on men and otherwise destroying morale. Nobody gives a s~~~ about male morale because the thinking was that men have no choice but to slave away at work because otherwise we’d starve and die in the streets.

Turns out a lot of men began to figure out that without a woman anchor in their lives, we can work less, save more, and then secure our lives better than with a job through investments and the like, or even just saving in a bank if you don’t want to do that. I try to keep a year or two of living expenses liquid and in the bank at all times.

Let women work. It’s not like they even do real work. All the actual real, hard work is done by men. The sanitation pickup? All men. Supply chain transportation and infrastructure? All men. Men take care of all the electrical wiring, internet, power, food slaughtering, growing and moving, and the list goes on and on. Women don’t do real work, and even the garbage white collar s~~~ work they barely do. I know because I worked high level white collar my entire career, and they don’t, f~~~ing, work.

I used to work with a female welder, and she would find every kind of excuse to slow her production. She would yammer about blood sugar and needing a snack, she would disappear for the bathroom, complain her wire feeder machine wasn’t working…

Hence why they are mostly employed in harmless departments such as HR or marketing, where they can’t do as much damage.

They do a HUGE amount of damage in HR.

As they control who gets hired, other women are always favoured. Experience or qualifications count for nothing.

But there’s a price to pay.

The more arrogant, stupid, idle women are hired, the faster a business moves towards failure.

    HR bitches are KILLING business.

    True story:

A couple of young men of my acquaintance were first class computer techs. They set up shop in a small, rundown old store. They never decorated or changed anything other than to move their gear in, so it looked like a dump. There was a grotty counter from where you could see straight into the workshop. All you did was come in and shout.

Word got around. Men didn’t care what the place looked like – they were just interested in competence. So they started to make money.

Then a GF appeared. She wanted a job. So the BF gave her a job. They built a partition wall, cutting the workshop off from the front of store. You couldn’t speak to the guys any more.

She became the ‘receptionist’ (yes, it was all long blonde hair, pouting, low necklines and dagger fingernails). She was rude and obstructive. She thought she had it made and that she was in control.

Business dropped off rapidly until they had to close. I don’t think they ever twigged what the problem was.

I always viewed work as a means to get money to be able to do other things I want to do in life.

Women have always viewed men by their careers(income)…hence they defined men by the work we do for a living.

Women thought if they could have careers(income) of their own they’d be of higher value.

Women discovered defining your life by your job sucks and life is really about what you do outside of work and regret it.

Things have just come full circle…yet by the time they realize it most of the guys their age are unwilling to become a slave for some used up pussy.

    Interesting.

    ‘Burned out by 30’

Wow, work is hard for pumpkin.

The truth is: Not burned out by 30. But burned out on the fact that she has not secured a beta wallet at that point to pay for everything, while she still works and keeps HER money for herself.

Yep. Because Pumpkin’s real burnout is not from working but rather, working and paying her own expenses and bills. In her mind, it’s not fair.

Their pain makes me smile an LOL.

They demanded this. As mentioned above they suck at work. The constant gossip and f~~~ing off just makes the day go slower which increases the pain of drudgery.

For a long time I thought a return to tradcon would be awesome. Then I landed here and discovered/learned that even tradcon was just a nicer form of slavery.

Maintaining a home, looking after children and preparing meals is not that f~~~ing hard. Especially in an age where there is an appliance for everything.

Yet these bitches complained and marched and forced daddy gooberment to make it so they could get jobs that they aren’t qualified for.

They wanted it ‘all’ well they got it. F~~~ ’em.

HAHA, f~~~ing spoiled brats. 30, psssh.

There’s only so many rich CEO Chad’s to pass around, and while they will wait YEARS and YEARS for him, eventually most of them will learn that he’s NOT knocking on pumpkins door to save her from her lonely, failed life as a female human being.

Have the SSRI’s ready, and your ‘yoga workshops’, pumpkin….

“These women worked like crazy in school, and in college, and then they get into the workforce and they are exhausted,” says Melanie Shreffler of the youth marketing blog Ypulse.

What I hear is “I majored in gender studies and college was one big social event. I managed to get a mindless degree with little effort and it didn’t prepare me for the real world.”

Even those who did plot out their lives past the initial first career have unrealistic expectations about full-time employment. It’s not as if these women expected their jobs to be parties and good times, but many underestimated the actual day-to-day drudgery.

Again, what I hear is “I wasn’t actually expecting to have to work once I finished college.” Parties and good times, I assure you, that is EXACTLY what they were expecting.

Also, while earlier generations may have opted out of the workforce through marriage or motherhood, these paths aren’t viable for these self-sufficient women, who either are still single or unwilling to be fully supported by men.

See how that was stated. “Opted”, as in exercising an option, to leave the workforce early through child rearing or marriage. What they’re saying is others recognize their peers found some poor sap to leech off of and help them recover from their s~~~ty life decisions, and now they too want to opt out, but they are at a point in society were men are just simply fed the f~~~ up, and not buying into the b.s.

Ultimately these women are going through the difficult realization that they may have to redefine their goals and come up with different measures of success ..

There’s nothing difficult to realize. In this generation, weemin have proclaimed they are “just as good as men” and “they don’t need no man”. We have taken note and support your decision to support yourself. Good luck, God speed, and let me know how that works out for ya..

Funny, isn't it? How women thrive on a mans time, attention and resources, while simultaneously telling him he isn't enough...

    Hardworking women, ‘burned out’

Imagine how burned out they would be if they had to court and pay for dick the same way that beta males have to invest and pay for the chance at f~~~ing a pussy.

    LOL

So take all the things Pumpkin is burned out over and factor in what it would be like if she had to expend additional time and resources securing dicks.

I guarantee: The average beta is way more burned out overall than any pumpkin could ever be.

Just the premise of the article is flawed.

So these women “burn out by 30.” To get there though the women went to college and possibly graduate school. This pits them around their mid 20’s at least. That means that at around 5 years of work 7 to 8 tops, these so called educated and go getting women are burning out. Essentially the author presumes that women can’t hack in the working world but then wonders why it’s happening. The author ever explains why the men are doing better without doing what the women do.

How’s that equality thing working out for ya honey?

I actually know quite a few women that fits this exact description. I tried to give them advice on how to handle the work and pressure, but they simply don’t get it. It’s strange, but it seems like women generally can’t escape a worker drone mentality. they’re told to do something, so they’ll continually push, their hamster wheel spinning furiously until they’re able to work through the issue, then onto the next issue. So they burn bright and short lived, like a gasoline fire, whereas men burn like a candle, strong and steady. Career women are the worst, as they are completely haggard by the time they hit 40, with a nasty disposition to go along with it.

One of my friends is going through this now, she’s middle management, only early 30s, and has all sorts of stress related illnesses. She has a new c~~~ boss that doesn’t know what she’s doing, is lazy, and delegates all her work down to my friend. So she’ll all stressing out, working crazy unpaid overtime, while the boss is collecting the 6 figured paychecks and doing nothing. She complains about the situation and tells me she can’t do anything about it. YES YOU CAN. You can tell that c~~~ boss “NO”, and that it’s the boss’s job. And if you want her to put in crazy OT to compete the work, she needs to be compensated for it. Get the incompetent boss out ASAP.

I told my friend that I can predict the future- boss is going to milk out the current situation. When she’s outed as incompetent and the gravy train comes to a halt, she’ll quit, and my friend will continue doing her work and the boss’s work until they hire someone new. Then she needs to train the new boss, and hope the new boss isn’t totally incompetent otherwise the cycle repeats.
