Who else likes old time quality stuff ?

In a thread like this, I just wish there was a global button to “like” all the posts and replies…
Not everything, but a LOT of stuff was mechanically better a few decades ago. Now, with more precise and fast manufacturing, many things that used to get adjusted, matched, aligned etc. during assembly is nowadays typically just slammed together.
Gearboxes ie. needed shimming and setting, but you got a tight and long lasting product. Today, stuff is NC machined to a “good enough” result, causing modern cars to have noisier and more short lived trannies.

Hell yes! Granted I’m barely into my 20s at this point but I already appreciate good craftsmanship over mass production. Sure, it’s cheaper to buy things now but just a few years back items were designed to last damn near forever with the right owner. Now if only they could get rid of all of those silly “warning” labels and let Darwinism take over…
