Where do I buy guns for cheap?

I lived in US for 16 years but still a citizen of Lithuania. I have a green card though – legal permanent resident. I always thought I need to be a US citizen to vote and to buy guns. Only yesterday I’ve discovered to my amazement that green card holders can also buy guns.
I am excited because I’ve always wanted to own guns.
It appears that in MN you don’t even need to have any permit to own a hunting type of a long rifle (single shot, not “assault” type). But it I want to get a pistol or a semi-auto “assault” rifle – I need to go through gun safety course and get a permit from the sheriff’s office – which seems like a pretty simple procedure.
And then I’m assuming I could go to a gun show and purchase guns from private parties.
Am I reading this correctly? Private sales aren’t regulated in MN?

Personally I like rifle shooting, it reminds me of shooting billiards, you know when you’re gonna make the shot before you finish pulling the trigger. If you have good geometrics you can practice ricochet like bumpers on a pooltable.

As long as you are not a felon, as a legal resident with a green card, I believe you can own a rifle or shotgun, in the U.S. You need to check with someone who can give you legal advice on this in the area you live in. Though, you cannot own a pistol.

No, it’s for zombie apocalypse scenario. I don’t want to be an easy target. I also want to get an AK74 just to fit the stereotype.
I also want to start hunting. I love fishing, so hunting should work for me also. I have rabbit family living under my porch- they chewed my coaxial cable. I want revenge. I’ll get a silencer and shoot the motherf~~~ers, and make a stew

No, I’ll never kill myself – I love every second of my life and will never stop it on purpose. And no, I’m not as depressed as I’ve been when I had to support a leech who hated me, while being a corporate slave for a company that wanted to oust me. And I’m not a daily drinker and I don’t go stupid when I drink. I exaggerated my situation a little bit just to make the topic starter a little bit better. I was drunk when I posted that response.

Back to the topic: So where do I save on guns?

Always wanted to try skeet shooting too – would be awesome if I ever have some land out back where I could shoot guns in my backyard.
