Im a former Marine 0311. I trained at 29 Palms during Combined Arms exercises.

I dont believe she should be given a BCD (bad conduct discharge) which is what those guys were calling for in the comments… a totally over the top punishment.

Dishonorable Discharge, and the lighter one, Bad Conduct Discharge are supposed to be reserved for truly heinous sh!t, like killing a fellow Marine or Marine Officer, or assaulting one, or stealing from the Armmoury.

She should be discharged with what I got, Other than Honorable OTH. Used for habitual druggies, drunks, AWOL etc… It means youre a ‘fvck-up’ but not necessarily detestable slimeball lol. You lose your GI Bill so that is gay…

5 types of discharges.
1. Honorable
2. general Under honorable Conditions
3. Other than honorable
4. bad conduct discharge
5. dishonorable discharge

Im “over it” as much as I can be, since it was over 12 years ago now… but the way they discharged me and tossed me out with no money 1000 miles from home… it led to very bad things in my life, VERY BAD YEARS following those events. They should not have done that to me. The military is too tightass on young Marines, especially ones who just got back from a combat leave. Bad Conduct Discharge would be acceptable. This is security risk/blackmail crap and how she’s been trying to deal with it proves she knows that. It is also a character issue she will do extreme things, and things still considered unsavory/immoral, for money. Again a securit risk issue. If she can rationalize this she could rationalize doing other improper things for money. It is a fundamental character issue. It was a disqualifier in the intel agencies.

Getting an OTH (Other than Honorable) discharge is basically every enlisted person’s worst fear.
Its a terrible punishment that truly affects your future. That is what she deserves (an OTH) and hopefully, that is what she gets because she should have known better.

As stated, a BCD (bad conduct discharge) is for more serious crimes like assault or stealing government property. Her crime is hardly serious at all guys. An OTH is not a pussie pass, she will lose ALL the benefits that make enlistment worth doing in the first place. She will be barred from GI Bill educational benefits. She will be barred from ALL local, state and federal government positions from county clerk to Police Officer to judge etc…

I joined the USMC in the wrong lifetime. Back during VIetnam it would have been ideal for me, with laxed rules about smoking weed and showing up late to Garrison Formation. But I joined in 2004, after the PC fvckwits took over and paperfvck you for any and every lil particular. I remember when it all went downhill, the start of the end, when I first lost all morale the firsttime. I was in the school of infantry just after basic training. We were all being sh!t on still (which is bullcrap because we’d passed Basic Training) and delayed from actual schooling, we were stuck in GUARD at Camp Pendleton. Some over-achiever SSgt wrote me up for having a cigarette on post! A fvcking cigarette, while on post inside a Garrisoned base in California… the offense is laughable. A write up on my permanent record! This is when I lost all morale and decided I didnt want to be there. Didnt care. Didnt want to go to a war…

The second time I lost all respect for it was when I really did show remorse for an offense and needed a second chance, yet the CO and battalion commander chose to instead, RUIN THE REST OF MY LIFE. Theyre all a bunch of buddyfvckers.

Im telling you, I hesitate to encourage enlistment and service because theyre all such tightasses. During the 70s and 80s, they didnt give a s~~~ about pee tests or paperfvcking you. You might get your asskicked or do extra chores or something but it wouldnt result in ruining your record and ruining your future civilian life. Nowadays, they just BLACK INK your file and kick you back to a civie life with no hope of catching up with your peers. Its not worth it…

Despite what people like iMIckey think you cant get pardons or upgrades to clean you record. Once you are paperfvcked, thats it… There are no 2nd chances in life sometimes guys.
