I’ve had this phrase bouncing off the walls in my skull for a few days now…

When a man tells a woman that he loves her he means that he would gladly lay down his life to protect hers if the need ever came up. When a woman tells a man that she loves him she means that she would let him do it.

Just by chance I happened across this story about the Aurora CO movie theater shooting. Its told by a woman who was there. I don’t want to give any spoilers but notice when you listen that her husband would probably have escaped unscratched if he hadn’t been more worried about her dumb ass.

It has not escaped me that mass murder shootings do not, do not, occur in places where the potential victims are allowed to shoot back.
