Realized that with 13,000 plus members we have a number of nationalities and cultures. I always love finding new foods so what are some of your awesome cultural foods.

    Me: (American-Irish)

Love this bread toasted with a cup of coffee

I like a patty of this grilled with some scrambled eggs

I love this for dinner with some Colcannon on the side. Irish Mussels rock!

The list for cultural foods that I like would take too long to type out. I will just list my least favorite Japanese dish. The only translation I got at the time was sea potato. Had one of the most horrendous textures I have ever tasted. It was both slimy and caulky at the same time.

Norwegian Lefse buttered with crushed up meatb~~~~ or pork roast rolled inside. It’s also good buttered with a sprinkle of brown sugar rolled inside and heated in microwave for about five seconds.
The very best Lefse I ever tasted had hot buttered Leutefisk (dried Cod in lye to tenderize it, skinned, boned, and boiled the fish to a gelatinous state) used as the filler rolled up in the fresh Lefse. It was perfect together; I can’t easily think of words to describe it. We used to have this as part of Christmas dinner when I was young. Along with it we had traditional holiday rice porridge and other complimentary side dishes.

Indian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, and Italian for me. If I had to choose one and only one, it would be Chinese because of its stupendous variety. I’ve never exhausted its range.

I was raised on the cuisine of New England, meaning bland and short of variety. I had some Mexican when a teen and have never looked back!

All that in mind, I avoid sugar and starch these days. No more white rice or desserts for me! This is for health reasons, and, having abstained for a time, I discovered I’ve lost my taste for them anyway.

Gee Guys, I feel kinda plain. My fave is a good old BBQ’ed double cheese burger with Canadian back bacon. Throw a few beers and I’m happy.

Well now that’s a given. The day I don’t enjoy a big burger slathered in cheese, Onions, and slabs of bacon, I will hand in my man card and cut my junk off.

I love curry especially vindaloo and I also love all the vegetarian Indian food. However having said that I found the food actually in India to be a bit s~~~, poor quality ingredients.

I think any food is good so long as it uses the best possible ingredients. Having said that the soda fish some one mentioned earlier is disgusting, but at least it is good for chasing off migrants with.

I hate to brag, but living in N.Y.the entire city is like one big menu..With everything and I mean everything on it! I enjoy almost all types of food. Never had the bleached fish tho..but if it repels migrants I’ll chip in for a boat load to Europe!

For me, I prefer good old southern food such as spicy chili and gumbo.

The other types of food I love is Mexican, Italian, and Chinese.

A couple years ago I discovered Vegetable Samosas at our local indian restaurant. Only an appetizer, but sooo completely delicious.

[Edit] Samosa’s were served with some kind of yogurt/possibly green curry sauce. Yes, I felt this was important enough to edit my original post.

I also found I like Risotto with mushrooms.

My buddy a few years back made this “korean” thing for me when we were living together. I believe it was a handroll of seaweed with sticky rice and seared spam. It was actually superb!

My favorite is a Lamb Tikka Dhansak with Pilau Rice and Bombay Potato.
Where did I put that menu….

I like Asian food, but I like food from all around the world.

    Japanese:
Authentic sushi: California rolls, orange fish eggs, crab, tuna, yellow tail, salmon, eel. We have a sushi buffet a mile away and it’s $15 all you can eat.
    Miso Soup
    Roasted seaweed
Japanese crackers, trail mix, and other low sugar snacks.
    Green tea
    Oolong tea

    Chinese:
    La Choy: Chicken Chow Mein
    Sweet And Sour Chicken
    Beef and broccoli
    Orange chicken
    General Tso chicken
    Honey chicken
    Sesame b~~~~
    Chinese broccoli
    Salmon
    Hot And Sour soup
    Egg drop soup

    American:
    Cheese burger medium rare
Teriyaki burger from Red Robbins along with the bottomless fries.
    BBQ

    Swedish:
We have a festival during June called Swedish Days and on the last day, there’s a parade breakfast with Swedish food all you can eat for $12 for 4 hours. It includes grilled herring, Swedish pancakes, red potatoes, eggs, bacon, milk, orange juice, water, cheese blocks, scallions. I ride my bike down to it every year.

    Italian:
Chicago Pizza and I’m from the Chicago suburbs.
Papa John’s Pizza – triple cheese with that garlic butter
    Lasagna with meat sauce
Spaghetti with sauce with extra mushrooms
Something I make for myself; pasta in a cream and parmesan sauce
My dad’s stuffed peppers without the peppers.
My own homemade pizza: tomato slices, cheese sticks under the crust, olives, mushrooms, garlic clove, onions, some olive oil on top, lots of mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese. Very good, but it’s very thick and heavy. I’m guessing it’s about 10 pounds.

    Non-cultural foods:
Tilapia fish; fried in lemon juice (not grease), coated with liquid butter, spiced with pepper, lemon pepper, and Mrs. Dash seasoning, and green scallions on top.
    Flank steak
New York Strip steak – medium rare
Prime rib meat like out of a Las Vegas casino buffet
Chicken breast fried in olive oil sprinkled with Mrs. Dash and lemon pepper
Mac And Cheese with Velveeta cheese
    Basic tossed salad
    Cesar Salad
All you can eat shrimp scampi and parmesan shrimp from Red Lobster

As you can see I like mostly Asian, Italian and non cultural foods. My dad’s side is more Italian and my mother’s side likes a wide variety. My sister can live off of Asian. So that’s where I get my cultural preferences at.
