Separated for three and a half years and divorced for two years. My ex wife is living in our 5 bedroom detached house with her new boyfriend. I estimate the house is worth £650K with a £250k mortgage outstanding. I have to pay £500 a month child support for the next 10 years which is another £60k.

So that is £460k just to get out of the contract without taking into account the fact that she spent all my money on crap for the 9 years we were married. I have been in full money hoarding mode since the day we split and taking into account living costs and child support I can now save 50% of my salary. That is 50% she would have been spending on absolute crap that we didn’t need.

This is the sum of money it costs you to get sex once every two months (after you have effectively begged for it), get sent out to the plantation every day, and have a woman respect you less and less each day until she starts f~~~ing any Chad who messages her on Facebook.

Seriously, don’t do it.

Divorces are like a personal trip to hell.
My little psycho set me back around 300k.
But like Hitman said, the main costs are not financial, but stress related emotional and physical problems. I was mad at myself for a few years for making the dumb decision to get married.

Chance of getting re-married? Zero.

If I were married to one of these ball busters, I would spend everything I had to extricate myself.

Not my intent at all man; your post just got me thinking about my own journey. The cuts can heal, but they’re still scars.

To your original question, one of the guys in a support group i went to was 1 year in to the divorce and paid out $80,000 just in lawyers to that point. He estimated, for when it was all said & done: $750,000-$1,000,000.
