Guys, I think we may be missing the point here.

It’s hard to tell from the trailer, but this movie may in fact be pro-male. The same way that 1984 was pro-freedom by showing what the alternative is.

With any luck, they will show women cleaning the sewers, doing heavy construction, handling toxic waste, commercial fishing, IT, and all the other currently male-dominated vocations.

And lets be perfectly clear – their male dominated because women have little to no desire to do these jobs and thus they don’t apply. I was a hiring manager for an IT job and out of dozens or hundreds of resumes, exactly ONE was from a female, who turned out to be dismally unqualified. (Q: Do you have any experience shell scripting? A: I’m not sure what that is. – You get the idea)

Is it possible that this movie actually aims to give women a taste of what the world will be like if they continue on their present course? I think we all know here what that would be like, and we also know women won’t like it, even if they don’t realize it yet.

Oh yeah…a lot of the in the field positions at my company are the better paying positions other than upper management(which generally requires working your way through the ranks)…but they are generally 12 hour rotating shifts so you end up working some night shifts and weekends. 99 out of 100 applicants are males…and pretty much being a woman with an appropriate degree means you automatically get hired because diversity…yet since I’ve been there I have seen far more newly hired women not succeed than men even though they have hired more men.

Looking back at other jobs I’ve had…every single one of them that had off hour shifts with pay differentials, they off hours were filled almost exclusively by men. The jobs that offered overtime was taken primarily by men. Its not pay gap or lack of opportunity…most women just don’t want to do it…they want to work 7-3 or 9-5 without getting dirty or doing anything more physical than lifting a phone or shuffling around some files.
