1984 is an excellent book and I strongly recommend anything by Orwell. Huxley’s Brave New World, however, has proved more prophetic.

While our current culture is a horrific mixture of both their novels, Huxley’s fear that we would “amuse ourselves to death” is far more in evidence than Orwell’s fears about “a jackboot to the face forever”. Our rulers control us more by distraction than brutalization.

Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.
