I read earlier that the Brits elect a Party and the party decides who the PM will be? Is this correct?

No, the leader of the party with most MPs becomes the Prime Minister. The only exception is if there is a hung parliament; then the leader of the second largest party could become PM. Farage would need to become leader of the conservatives to become PM and he’s too much of a polarizing figure.
