Advertising works.  Why else would they spend trillions of dollars on it. Can we agree on that?

But what is advertising?   Some person on the TV talking about a product,  color pics, information.

Sure, they have the latest psychology behind them.  Make the pitch man a hot blond, use the color red, etc.  In group bias, wonderful woman effect, appeal to authority, etc.

How is that any different than you and me having a conversation about anything?   Two people just talking how great my new widget is?  Not much, I’d argue.  You believe me and go out a buy one too.

Now consider this, that means every tv show is advertising. Brainwashing.

For example,  every s~~~ com (not a spelling error)  that shows the dad as the bumbling fool and the wife the hero is advertising that to you.  Programing  you to believe it. That it is the normal. Are you with me?

When you see the show “Supergirl” or  Buffy the vampire,  the girl is the hero.  Wait for women to save us,  they are better.

Think about Pop music. Words put together with a song. Love, serve your gal, etc.  Straight into your brain.

If you grew up watching John Wayne,  you wanted to be just like him.  If you grew up watching Buffy the vampire chick you wanted to be the second fiddle.

Yes I know video game violence doesn’t translate to real violence.   But those aren’t real people to your brain.  I’d argue that if you had a TV show  on a rifle squad in A stan , real time, real life , that would cause increase in violence.

Now we aren’t zombies that blindly following the TV or are we?  If every conversation,  TV show, real ad, goes into our brain.

If we are aware of it and stay mentally tough you can resist.  Ever since I went MGTOW, when I watch media I count the racial,  gender of the actors.  What if having 70% of actors being female trains you to think females are dominant leaders?  Every female news Anchor trains you to believe women in authority.   Think about it.

I used to love “Cops”.  It trained me that 99% of criminals are black.  They are not.

To be fair, reading this post is  advertising,  brainwashing.   Think about it.  I am trying to convince you to adjust your ways.

I think developing good critical thinking skills can help immunize you from brainwashing. Being able to recognize fallacies, understanding any cognitive bias you may have, and keeping a healthy amount of skepticism on subjects you are unfamiliar with until you’ve taken the time to understand them.

I went to university as a mature student (age 31-34) to study psychology. The most interesting aspect of my course was in my final year when I studied social psychology. The most interesting part of social psychology was studying the ways in which discourses and language are employed, how they normalise things, and most importantly, who benefits.
