The thing about hunting is that it really makes you come face to face with reality.

And makes you respect life. Oddly by killing it. Killing an animal is not what I consider fun to do. But it’s a whole hell of a lot more respectful, than some of the things we do now.

Chicken farming for example on the commercial level.

But hunting makes you not only appreciate the danger, but makes you respect that animal for giving up its life for yours.

That is why I think the tradition to give thanks at the dinner table is gone. Religion be damned. You don’t have to be to appreciate and be respectful of your meal.

If humans don’t respect food. Then the chances of them respecting each other falls off rather quickly.

I wonder if this is proper hunting or what they do in Africa where they put the “hunter” in a hide and then herd the animal right in front of them. Not that a buffalo would be hard to shoot anyway but still.

Depending on the size of the buffalo. A big one (2000lb range) the price per pound could be as low as 4/5 dollars a pound dressed. Having a use for the hide, bones, and horns will reduce the price even further.
Considering people pay that for a white tail hunt where at the best you might get 100 pounds of meat, the buffalo hunt is a deal.
Canned hunts are more common then you might think.
