It is absolutely essential to have a solid understanding of world events. This means that you should understand economics, politics, and psychology – and you should pay attention to the local, national, and global news.

Many say that you should pay little attention to world events because they have little effect on your life, and you can do nothing to control them. While their sentiment is understandable, it is foolish to attempt to fully shut out world events from your mind. Your life does not exist in a vacuum, and whether you want to acknowledge it or not, certain world events have a huge effect on your daily life.

This is not to say that you should let the news bother you on a daily basis. However, you need to have an understanding of the world and how it affect you. You should also prepare skills and at least some supplies, both for a possible disaster in daily life and for if or when the s~~~ hits the fan economically and/or politically.

That said, you must put everything in perspective. Keep in mind that when you see the media, you’re going to hear about the most headline-grabbing events. For every dramatic event that does happen, there are thousands of events (if one could even quantify this) that haven’t occurred.

Since there is no way we can understand world events without one form of media or another, it is essential to know where to get your media sources and how those sources operate. You must also know how media attempts to influence you, and how it earns its money.

Key Points to Understand About the Media

If you want to follow a person or organization’s motives, the first thing to do is to follow the money. Obviously, the media gets a huge chunk of their money from people viewing their website, videos, or telecast, and viewing and/or clicking on their advertisements. The media also gets revenue from things such as subscription fees, selling products, and whatnot. But generally, it all comes down to you viewing their product first and foremost.

This should not be news to anyone; it’s the implications of this that not all people fully consider.

Since the media earns most of its revenue from you viewing their product first, they constantly attempt to grab your attention with the news. This is obvious to anyone who turns on cable TV and sees BREAKING NEWS on the bottom of the screen.

The media also plays up boring events to make them interesting to grab your attention. They attempt to sell you on emotion; particularly on fear and conflict. Almost every media outlet does this. Go to any mainstream or big alternative outlet and count how many times you see headlines with words such as “conflict”, “showdown”, “shock”, and “war” in them.

To much of the media, every threat must be the precursor to World War III. Every conversation must be a “showdown.” You get the idea. Often times, you’re getting factual information, but the information is being played up for sensationalism and/or click-baiting. Fortunately, some media outlets have a brand of rationality and are less likely to do this.

Additionally, media attention is often diverted from important stories to the biggest headlines. If there’s a threat of war, for instance, it is going to receive the most attention. However, just because there’s a threat of war doesn’t mean a politician didn’t sign a sneaky bill attacking free speech. Politicians and other elites will often sneak things by while they know the headlines will be focused on something much larger.

Donald Trump’s practical understanding of this reality about the media is the primary reason why he is so effective at manipulating it. He knows exactly how the media operates, the kind of headlines they want to strive for, how to manipulate individual reporters to his benefit, and so forth. Particularly during the campaign trail, he created a character for them to sink their teeth into, and as a result, he received billions of dollars in free media coverage. His ability to manipulate the media so masterfully is one of the biggest reasons he got into power.

The mainstream media gets its money primarily from advertising, of course, but it has been shown to work hand-in-hand with the government. Wikileaks revealed the collaboration between the MSM and the Clinton Campaign during the election. The MSM, in particular, is prone to a pro-globalist bias due to its deep connections with high-ranking government officials and other elite.

This is not to say that alternative media is immune to this possibility either. Facebook and all sorts of social media have been shown to be guilty of manipulating their feed. Additionally, as alternative right-leaning continues to grow, it becomes more susceptible to being bought out and becoming “controlled opposition.”

    Bias is Inevitable

Bias is inevitable. People are biased by their very nature.

You’re biased, I’m biased, and that’s that. Therefore, this is true about media outlets as well.

Knowing this principle, you should acquire your media from multiple reliable sources with differing viewpoints. See what various media outlets say to get multiple perspectives on the same event.

Find sources that are trustworthy. Most of the outlets that I’ve linked to below have been proven to be very trustworthy. Remember that a media outlet’s credibility is on the line when they don’t get facts right. If they lose credibility, they eventually lose viewers and income.

Hilariously, the mainstream media is largely gung-ho on making stories and spin up to push their globalist agenda forward, which is why they are losing popularity and trust. They play on their previously achieved popularity and their current accessibility. Even outlets like ESPN are declining in popularity. The mainstream media has become the mouthpiece of globalism. See the Pizzagate scandal and the media’s attempts to spin the story and cover it up, and countless other events which I don’t feel like linking to.

    Alternative Media

Alternative media has been exploding over approximately the past decade; particularly in the last few years. It’s an incredible revolution in technology and communication. Instead of a reporter needing to go to school for many years, kissing ass to get a job at a mainstream media outlet who has taken decades to develop capital and influence, and only being able to say exactly what he is told to say, people on Youtube can influence millions of people with nothing more than the video camera on their cell phone and an internet connection.

The simple fact that anyone can influence on the internet so easily allows for much more diverse opinions and actual investigative journalism. This combined with its easy availability has ignited a revolution in media.

The political and media elite have struggled to combat the exploding popularity of alternative media. Censorship attempts against alternative media have been occurring and seem to be accelerating. However, I am optimistic that true censorship will ultimately be impossible for the elites to pull off because people have already tasted freedom of expression and will fight hard against censorship. Any censorship attempts will have to be sneaky.

Fortunately, when censorship occurs, a marketplace is created. Gab.ai is a free-speech alternative that sounds very promising. Other outlets will eventually attempt to do the same thing.

    Alternative Media Sources

Here’s a brief list of recommended sources of alternative media.

Your Voice America – Bill Mitchell and Crew have been right about Trump from practically the start of his campaign. In fact, this is where I get most of my political news. When you think something isn’t going right, or your confused about something Trump is doing. Bill Mitchell is the one that will tell you to calm down, and then explain how everything is going just fine.

Danger and Play – Cernovich has been on a roll lately. He is a former (current?) Manosphere writer who eventually became much larger as he began to cover politics. Moreso than his website, I recommend following him on Twitter and/or Youtube.

Stefan Molyneux – Molyneux is incredibly intelligent and insightful. He has made more of an attempt to be more sensationalist lately, and it’s honestly a little embarrassing. Lately, he has been putting out his take on the news almost every day. He also has excellent videos on history, philosophy, and so forth. He is an anarchist that has taken the side of the right for practical (and probably popularity) reasons. I strongly recommend subscribing to him on Youtube.

Infowars – To say that Alex Jones is sensationalist is perhaps the understatement of the decade. I haven’t looked into all of his past claims about subjects like the Sandy Hook shooting, moon landing, etc. But if this podcast reveals anything, he is able to back up what he says with incredible precision. Overall, Infowars provides a lot of factually backed anti-globalist news, even it is sensationalist and fear-mongering.

Zerohedge – A financial and political news blog that reports on world events and financial happenings. They can be a bit sensationalist and arrogant in tone, but it’s a very useful source of information.

Brietbart.com – An alternative right wing, largely political and pro-Trump website.

Project Veritas – Another right-wing news website that provides a solid perspective on the world.

Wikileaks – Who can forget Wikileaks? Although I tend to read what other media outlets say about Wikileaks than I actually read Wikileaks, you can dig through the website and find all sorts of incriminating information.

LawNewz – As the name suggests, this website is oriented on providing news regarding the legal system.

    Libertarian Outlets

Mises.org – This site gives a logical, monetary policy based approach to political events. They don’t demogauge, and their reasoning is very logical. If you want a real criticism of Trump’s policies, this is a great site to go to. It is an excellent website.

Ron Paul Liberty Report – Like Mises.org, Ron Paul does not demoguage. His analyses are very fair and logical. He puts out new videos almost every day giving a libertarian based approach toward world events.

The Cato Institute – Another site, like Mises.org, that gives a libertarian perspective on world and historical events.

Reason.com – A libertarian news site that covers more news than the above three sites.

    Left Wing Outlets

It’s hard to recommend left wing outlets because of the fact that liberalism/socialism are nonsense ideologies. As Thomas Sowell said, “Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it.” Of course, someone lacking in intelligence could evade socialism’s record of failure, but what he means is that the most intelligent know the failures of socialism, but they push it as a viable method for their own selfish means.

Anyway, that is my well-researched and extensively thought out bias. Now that you have a better idea of where my biases lie, understand that I still believe in seeing what the other side says. Sometimes they put out facts that are inconvenient to the side that you support, that you should research and be aware of. Often times, they engage in silly demagoguery. Regardless, you should be aware of their narrative and any information that may counter what you believe in.

Liberal outlets you may want to pay attention to include NPR, The New York Times, Washington Post, etc. Occasionally look at outlets like CNN or MSNBC for laughs – or just to see what they’re saying. The Intercept is a decent left-wing site. From what I have seen, their arguments tend to be more researched and well-developed than most liberal news outlets.

    Conclusion

To get a realistic outlook on the world, one must know how to consume their media. This means that one should know how the media works, and know where to get their sources from. Keep your media intake in perspective – while many world events do affect you, there are also many that are not worth worrying about. Also, remember that bias is everywhere and that you ideally should get multiple perspectives of the most important events.

Good post venom i liked the libertarian outlets the best. My only problem is i could give a f~~~ about info wars or breitbart especially after the death of the founder of it. Pro Trump sites are just as asskissing as the liberal ones the only difference is they kiss the asses of the republicans over the democrats.

Not only that but alot of right wing sites tend to be for the bulls~~~ of traditionalism. You know all of the man up bulls~~~ and the delusion that men and women are equally valuable partners (a crock of horse s~~~). Id respect traditionalists more if they actually gave a goddamn solution instead of just get married and raise your daughters right even when they know it is a s~~~ deal.

Also on a final note the reason i am against the traditionalist answer is that it does not give men power or at least the power deserved for making all of the sacrifices and that getting married and red pilling your daughter is not worth it or even really possible these days when your wife can divorce you at any moment and restrict you seeing your kids to a few hours every month or 2 hours every week.

If you have f~~~ing daughters the time spent trying to red pill them won’t be worth a s~~~ since they are surrounded by far more bulls~~~ everywhere else in life to make it not really effective. They spend 7 hours a day in school around fugly c~~~ teachers, the rest of the time being on instagram, watching youtube and TV and the final time with their mother.

Just an east coast asshole who likes to curse, If you get offended by words like fuck, cunt, shit, piss, bitch or any racial slurs then you just scroll down.
