Valley Girl

When I was growing up, the valley girl accent was viewed as eccentric. We made fun of it. You weren’t supposed to talk like that. Somewhere between then & now, it has gone mainstream.

I’ve heard people ask–and have wondered myself–dear God, WHY?

Here’s my twofold guess:

First, it’s pretty common throughout history for people to imitate the upper classes of whatever society they hail from… so in America’s case, a Beverly Hills subculture comes perfectly pre-wrapped for such an application, for those women who worship materialism, superficiality, and all the vices associated with the modern American pampered female.

Second– Whenever my sister is putting on airs, she shifts to a valley girl accent almost subconsciously. Her use of this speech pattern comes up when she’s looking for attention or trying to she-c~~~ up her street status in a way I really don’t understand. My guess is that females who speak valley girl know it is eccentric, and speak like that to gain attention in the only ways they know how. Both cases are a matter of putting on airs–quite literally by dumbing themselves down!

I see this too, but I think it is to put on the act that she is a dumb bimbo. It makes the woman seem an easy target for sex, and too dumb to get burned from it. It draws blue pill men like flies, because of the false hope.

A guy I know married a gal who talks valley. She’s in her early 40s and she has talked like this forever. Almost every sentence she ends on a rise, as if they are all questions.

Cannot stand hearing her talk.

Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

Thanks! Good stuff. That kind of talk hit the North East awhile back which makes it even more artificial
Its really sickening when you hear that talk come out of the mouth of some flaked out guy
