Iran says it will rain he’ll fire down upon its enemies. There will
    Be deaths.

International community doesn’t bat an eye lid.

President Trump hints at attacking ‘cultural sites’

    International community expresses alarm.

So any expression of intent to commit mass murder doesn’t raise an eye brow.

Expressions of intent to destroy a few old buildings and there is alarm.

    Go figure.

In 1980 I was in the National Guard and I really thought I was going to be in a war with Iran. We were in no way prepared or equipped for a long term ground war. The military had been declining in strength since Vietnam, and it took the Reagan administration to bring it back. Iran is so of $***. A lot loud mouth and no action. However, I must agree that we are long past getting all military assets out of the Middle East.

They sent their most advanced weapons last night. Ballistic missiles. Non-guided ballistic missiles that lead to no deaths.

It’s bad that they sent missiles at all but I think we know were not fighting Russia here. Iran just don’t have the military might and technology to truly defeat us. They are a second or third world nation. Smart international policy must take that into account.

We can’t let them lob missiles willy nilly into our bases. Americans will die.

We can’t let Iran kick us out of a region of the world just on their orders. We have our own strategic influences.

China and Russia both realize the importance of the middle east to the world economy.

I think the Iranian Leaders are full of BS because all they spout is rhetoric that sounds so very familiar to the old soviet rhetoric.
They talk of victory glory courage etc without any real backbone. Just because a dog has a loud bark does not mean it has the teeth to back it.

I haven’t managed to fully formulate my thoughts but they seem to think that saying something somehow makes it true.

But as we all know that’s also a tool of Left Wing Ideologues. Typical of the old Soviet Union and all too typical of Libtards.

I have great respect and appreciation for our soldiers and those of our allies… but I don’t think that policymakers should be using the armed forces to police the world. If we or our close allies are attacked, then we ought to pummel the aggressor back to the stone age — but unless a nation initiates violence against us, we shouldn’t meddle.

They sent their most advanced weapons last night. Ballistic missiles. Non-guided ballistic missiles that lead to no deaths.

When they deny that there were casualties, they might be lying. As one journalist pointed out, according to the US military there are an awful lot of deaths due to ‘jeep accidents’ in Afghanistan.

On the other hand, the Iranians might have been cute enough to hit equipment rather than personnel, just to send a message.

Don’t be fooled by the yellow press – their level of technical expertise is much greater than the public are led to believe. It’s an old propaganda trick – if you can gull the public into believing that the enemy is just a bunch of peasants living in mud huts, they will be less likely to balk at the prospect of a war.

It’s bad that they sent missiles at all but I think we know were not fighting Russia here. Iran just don’t have the military might and technology to truly defeat us.

If the US cannot physically occupy the country and hold it down, then it loses. That’s the dilemma – all the Iranians have to do to win is to survive.

We can’t let Iran kick us out of a region of the world just on their orders.

They pointed out on cable news that they seemed to have tried to miss. They have cruise missiles capable of increased accuracy but didn’t use them. We use them.

I think it’s all part of how the Iranian leaders brain wash their people into believing the country has more might than it actually has.

“Look! Our Glorious Leaders show strength and courage agains that great white devil in the west’ ‘Blessed are we to have such noble warriors’

    Or some crap like that.

My two cents on the matter…

The issue might have been a political one and both parties are using each other to help their own personal agenda. For Trump, its obvious. For Iran, it might have to do with Khomeini solidifying his power from other factions. One of those factions that has a large support and could be a threat is that general.

Since it would be detrimental to Iran to appear with infighting, why not have Trump do it. In a sense it would be a win-win scenario for them. They communicate behind closed doors, have the charade and appear as heroes to their gullible masses.

Just my take on the matter as politics is often a plot behind a plot behind a plot. Like Varys and Littlefinger…

We need neither the Middle East’s oil (we have more than enough of our own) nor their stone age religions.

Let’s work to keep both out of the West.

It is all a s~~~ show. Iran knows beyond any doubt that the US would crush it in a day or two. Trumps sanctions are very effective. The leaders are in panic mode. How do they get Trump off there back side. They try and attack a Japanese tanker to see if Japan will try to Pressure Trump, nope. So now it is all in the liberal leftist media.
Iran can’t do much, saber rattle. Hit the wrong target the US beats them down and the Mullah’s are all gone.

I missed Trump’s speech, but it must have burned Iran’s leaders.

but I don’t think that policymakers should be using the armed forces to police the world.

That just ensures the “elite and their children” have no need to endure sacrifice, that’s why they use the peons (their opinion).

I doubt it – you are dealing with the East, where they are far more subtle.

    Monk speaks wisely here.

The Iranians are grown ups and the truest thing Trump said was that Iran never lost a negotiation.

Trump made a statement by assassinating Soleimani. It was the opposite of Obama’s red line that moved a lot. He may also have been dealing a direct blow to Iranian hopes of negotiating peace with the Saudis. I think Trump acted well. The west has been on the back foot too long.

Unfortunately Trump acted in a corner -he had to do something. The Iranians are grown ups playing the great game. Trump is trying to get back on the board dragging the ball and chain of a liberal populace. The Iranians had the territory on the board and they have reacted masterfully. Iraq their old enemy votes to expel the US -well worth a general. Their people are unified in anger -worth an army. Binning the nuclear deal -worth a nuke and look what nukes got fat boy kim. Missiling a few US assets -just face saving. A reaction was just for show. The game goes on and the Iranians have more of the board but Trump is at least on it now.

A woman is like fire -fun to play with, can warm you through and cook your food, needs constant feeding, can burn you and consume all you own
