We had a brief talk with some brother on Zoom and he was surprised my grandparents who lived together for 50 years. Actually, all of my grandparents had have been stood together until death did them apart so I see nothing special in it.

There are always some discussions about Unicorns’ existing. Some of you hold their ground and keep on saying there is no such thing as a Unicorn, whilst others want to believe. Personally me consider there are no Unicorns left anymore. Not around us, no. But their tracks have footprinted on the pages of history.

I have no idea how many of you have heard about Decemberists and their revolt against the Russian political system of the beginning of the 19th century.
Many of them were young military officers, representatives of Russia’s nobility. Who really wished to set common Russians free from serfdom.

When the revolt was suppressed, only the small number of them were lucky enough to stay alive. A half of the rioters were executed in cruel ways via decapitation and dismemberment, the others were sent to Siberia.

It’s not the giant trees, nor the deathly stillness that constitutes its power and enchantment; rather, it’s in that only the migrating birds know where it ends. You don’t pay attention to it on the first day of travel; on the second and third, you are surprised; the fourth and fifth day give you a feeling that you’ll never get out of that monster of the Earth. (Anton Chekov on Siberia)

Now it’s time for the Unicorns to show up. They are widely known here as the Decemberists’ wives. Those ladies who made a decision to follow their husbands to Siberia. They were going to lose everything: a noble status, property, the kids because of the Imperial government which banned moving the children with them.

Young, fragile, pampered, they followed their husbands into exile.

One of these women was Maria Volkonskaya, the quintessence of class, a princess. When her husband, double her age, was exiled, she gave birth to their first son. No one will know what motivated young Maria, daughter of a famous hero of the 1812 war with Napoleon, but she agreed to leave everything that was so merry to her, including her son. She signed a document with the Tsar, renouncing all her rights, titles, possessions, and even acknowledging the fact that she would never be allowed to return. The trip to Siberia was a one-way ticket. “Whatever your fate, I will share it”, she wrote in a letter to her husband.

Thanks for the information, never heard of Decemberists.

Even for those times, it was the unbelievable act of loyalty and self-sacrifice. They inspired a famous Russian writer Nikolai Nekrasov to write a poem which he named “Russian women”.
Another one legend of the Unicorns is actually a real event that took a place when Konrad the 3rd sieged the castle of Weinsberg. When he tired of stubborn resistance he sent an ultimatum to defenders letting the women leave the castle and take anything they are able to carry on the back. There are still some ruins called “Loyal women”.

    Long time gone.

All it is left now is the carcas of humanity, honor is a corpse, I will not stand again by my honor and my word.

I died already, my duty is fulfilled.

To those following me, be careful, I just farted. Men those beans are killers.

If unicorns are real, I have a feeling they look more like this than what we’d actually desire.
