Oh god, old news but hilarious find. Im kinda shocked.

This guy explains the situation alright…
The face in thumbnail alone should be evident of the problem, and the problem is not in Ubuntu.

    User Error.

    F~~~ing retarded. All of them.

What sucks is that rather than take the opportunity to introduce people to an OS that is free from viruses, extremely reliable, and compatible with far more things than windows ever was or will be, they act like she got scammed or something.

This HAS to be a paid thing from Microsoft. I can’t think of any other explanation.

Ha, I remember this. Unless you’re completely computer illiterate, how the f~~~ can you not use Ubuntu? You don’t even need a command line to use the damn thing. It’s one of the easiest distros out there to use.

She’s a f~~~ing retard. She uses Femmebook way too much.

    illiterate

That´s what she seems to be, other than that she would have read the product description before spending 1100$, she must must be rich….
This is how dumb people get their minute of fame, exposing their own incapabilities to the local news. That girl is going to study ?.., she should save that money, it´s like casting pearls before swine. Plus she lied about Open Office.
Is it usual that news channels pop in for help for such a trifle?

Or she might be getting the money from her parents or rich mangina of a boyfriend.

I realized that also. When you’re buying a new computer from any website, you have to click multiple times to confirm the purchase. I can’t even think of what to compare her stupidity to, because of how dumb she is.

Plus she lied about Open Office.

She definitely is. Open Office/Libre Office is perfect for normal home users who don’t need any specialized documents for business/IT. I used it for a while when I was in college because I couldn’t afford Microsoft Office.

It’s one of the best alternatives to it.

Yeah thought about that too…, they might have told her to get lost when she asked for more money for a “useable” laptop. (Help me news channel.. pleeeaaase)
The funny thing is, how long did she try to figure OO and Ubuntu? I mean if she would have returned the laptop right away after recognizing she can´t handle it, I don´t believe DELL would have said “NO”. She must have taken a jolly good time playing around with it just to figure she´s too stupid (< but maybe that´s the point).

    She definitely is.

You can save an OO Writer file in MS office formats (guess you know that), same is for Calc, so it´s definetly compatible with MS Office.Haven´t worked with Impress yet, might be that some features don´t work… don´t know about .xlsx files either, but I doubt that girl would be able to create an animated presentation for Power Point or a pie/pivot chart.

Oh for f~~~’s sake. It’s online courses. The interface is the browser, not the OS. All she needs to do it get it on the internet. And what kind of idiot spends $1100 on a college laptop?

Not only does this little airhead fail at computers, she fails at being female. It’s f~~~ing noobuntu. My grandmother can use noobuntu, and she’s dead. Even if this blonde bint lacks the brains to get it on the the internet herself, all she’d have to do is walk up to the nearest man wearing a star wars shirt and hint that she might suck his dick if he gets her computer running.

But no, she can’t even do that. She fails at due diligence. She fails at computers. She fails at tech support. And she fails at being a woman.

And when she fails over and over does she try to solve her own problem? Of course not. Like a woman she throws a hissy fit, quits college, blames everyone but herself, and goes whining to the largest attention source she can.

So much for being “strong and independent”.

I don’t get it she can install another os on the machine like windows vista or 7 (at the time of the video) but she drops out just because she can’t use this one? installing a os is one of the most simple things you can do on a computer.

Just an east coast asshole who likes to curse, If you get offended by words like fuck, cunt, shit, piss, bitch or any racial slurs then you just scroll down.

I guess that´ll be too much of a task for her, since can´t even cope with Ubuntu.

If she were smart enough she could have used Google at a Inet cafe or a library to check for herself, then she could have done the settings for the Inet connection manually (w/o DVD) or figure how to save a .doc file under Open Office.

What a waste of time for all the people involved helping that poor little drama girl.

And we´re talking about it /s

Not once does anyone ever say it’s her fault.

Dell explicitly states up front what OS one is getting. She can’t get Ubuntu on the Interweb give me a f~~~ing break. It should have the network adapter set for DHCP and every ISP customer router I’ve ever seen has DHCP enabled by default. I’d wager she never bothered plugging it into a Cat5e or joining a wireless network. Since it came OEM, she should have zero problems with it. No, the Verizon idiot disk is the only way.

Stupid bimbo. She should be forced to configure Cisco routers while being whipped with a Cat-o-nine tails.

I bought a Celeron once. People mocked me, but I knew what I was doing. It was cheap, and serves me well to this day.

I am sympathetic for someone who buys a linux OS thinking it is Windows, but caveat emptor.

    I bought a Celeron once.

My first PC was Celeron 633Mhz, which I run at 714Mhz instead. Loved it, had zero problems with it, very durable. Quake 2 and 3 was my go-to pleasure on it.
Oh and Windows 98 (XP later) of course.

Once had a celeron powered laptop. Its weakness became apparent about 4 years later, but it did work pretty well until that point.

It would’ve continued to be useful, if software didn’t get increasingly bloated in the years that followed.

kay these days, I am running Win7 because 6 years back, I was so annoyed by the Linux fiddling which I had been doing for 9 years. But still, I got the things running that I wanted, it was only too time consuming. If Linux offers the better tools for what I need, I still shall fire up a USB live distro. Dropping out of college because of Linux?! LOL.

Back in my days, we had AIX, Solaris and HP-UX running, plus some SGI workstations here and there. The worst thing was graphical user interface programming in plain C. Porting some Matlab algorithms to Motorola 56k digital signal processors was more fun – in assembler.
