I always wondered about sci-fi starships. All we ever see is well fed crew in clean clothes occupying rooms without so much as a smudge on the walls. Who does the cleaning? Who does the laundry? Where are the kitchens and who does the cooking? Who fixes and repairs things?

If some sci-fi magic device is doing all that, then when can I go to the hardware store and get mine? I want one, whatever it is!

Good question as in Star Trek there are no droids.

In TOS they did have kitchens. TNG was replicators.

The crew fixes and repairs things.

The earlier mentioned replicator is pretty much magic. Just say “Steak and a beer” and it materializes.

Go ask for one at Home Depot and see what happens!
