The U.S. Justice Department sued the state of California over so-called “sanctuary” policies that try to protect illegal immigrants against deportation, ramping up a confrontation over whether local police should enforce federal law.

The lawsuit, filed late Tuesday in federal court in Sacramento, the California state capital, takes aim at three state laws passed last year that the Justice Department contends violate the U.S. Constitution.

Once we had a s~~~load of states leave the Union and it caused a war. Why couldn’t the other 49 states throw California OUT of the Union and just give it back to Mexico? NO state has a God given right to belong to the United States if that state ignores Federal law and authority. What’s next? Re-institute slavery? You have to draw a line somewhere.

People in CA hate Trump? They’d really hate me if I was president.

I’d secretly declare those politicians as enemy combatants, and have them quietly rendered to a black ops prison in eastern Europe. Ditto on the 9th Circuit Court.

All my life I've had doubts about who I am, where I belonged. Now I'm like the arrow that springs from the bow. No hesitation, no doubts. The path is clear. And what are you? Alive. The three specific issue in question paint a more accurate picture. I’m not sure about all 3, but…

One of them, known as Assembly Bill 450, prohibits private employers in California from voluntarily cooperating with federal immigration officials.

This is clearly illegal. I could see where it may be illegal to provide personal information about your legit employees, but no such right could apply to someone who is not legit. Besides that, names, id numbers, and address can’t be considered personal. I have no doubt that CA requires this information on it’s state tax returns.

How much you want to bet this is more to protect the people on top that hire the bottom folks so they are not held liable?

If anything, looking into the economics of california is what paints the bigger picture. It is a police state in parts. But it is this freedom to do what you want that gives it its success.

What they are doing is s~~~ting in one hand and eating with the other. What this does is make it so that People like me in Oregon can escape there and live good lives. It’s possible in California. But you have to follow some rules to keep the fuzz of your back.

It is a strange place. You got people in Homeless shelters driving $20,000 dollar trucks, and living and eating with the rest of the folks.

Its some strange dynamic there. And since it’s been gentrifying, the police have not caught up with the times. Its amazing what a place California is. It really is the 3rd world, and the 1st world all wrapped up into one.
