In this thread, we talk about the TV shows we watched when we were younger.

    Shows I Remember Fondly:
    – Spongebob (Remember when Spongebob was good?)
    – Digimon
    – Futurama
    – The Simpsons
    – Dexter’s Lab

Does anyone here remember how awesome the original Digimon show was? That show was f~~~ing badass. It was way better than Pokemon.

Sorry dude, I never really watched Digimon. I couldn’t get into those shows as much as everybody else, because I felt that they were all too similar.

Some of the shows that I remember fondly are:

    Knight Rider
    Power Rangers
Get Smart (I didn’t grow up in the sixties, they were reruns)
    Animaniacs
    Looney Toons
Tiny Toon Adventures (when I was much younger)
And as embarrassed as I am to admit it, The Nanny. Oh come on, it had its moments.

Ah,I spent yesterday reliving memories on a site called
    Old Time TV

    Shows like Rat Patrol,Combat!,The Fugitive,Dragnet,
    Raw Hide,The Untoucables,The Beverly Hillbillies
    and much more.

    Check it out!

You know the best thing is how I felt after watching these-just f~~~ing awesome!

Besides a little research on my computer yesterday, thats all I did on the ‘net (I don’t have cable anymore)
No news, porn or even this site (which can be depressing sometimes too)

It’s like my whole personality changed and thats when I realized what a f~~~ing cancer modern media really is.

Since the birth of the ‘net (commercially) say 20 years ago society has been getting steadily, ruder, meaner, overly sensitive and ignorant.

I think you could class this as a mass psychosis,
we weren’t made to be this connected or have access to this much knowledge and info all at once.

It overwhelms most and only the smart know the cure is to disconnect.
How many people do you guys know that NEVER turn their phones or computers off?

The governments if aware of this condition either prefer their people like this for whatever reason or are unwilling or unable to help the situation.

So it’s up to each of us to cut down on this addiction that is far worse than TV ever was.

TV/Movies are a reflection of this, yes the old fare had violence too but it wasn’t as random or graphic and they always had a moral to the story.

    Now witness today’s ‘entertainment’,non-stop violence,gore fests,shallow acting,no morals
or manners but hey the FX were f~~~ing awesome bro!

Call me a dinosaur but I prefer to live in the past so I can have a good future.

    Erie Indiana
    Farscape
    Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles
    X-Men
    Power Rangers
    Twin Peaks
    ECW

There are others but I limited it to ten.

And as embarrassed as I am to admit it, The Nanny.

We all have that one show we’d never publicly admit to liking (Mine is Friends)

Alot of the shows mentioned are ones I grew up with like Doug for instance.

Here’s some more. Sorry for video carpet bombing the thread, just wanted to provide examples of what I’m referring to.

Does anyone here remember how awesome the original Digimon show was? That show was f~~~ing badass. It was way better than Pokemon.

I remember that show. It was pretty cool. I ditched Pokemon for it. I fondly remember seeing it in the summer of 2000, often watched on an old TV with an aerial on the Fox kids channel. I used to have a number of cards for that one, but they got lost somehow. While cleaning out a desk a few years ago, I found an old Tentamon card stuck in there. How it got there is a mystery.

    Felix the Cat(Syndication)

    Magnum PI(Syndication)

Masterminds – The one documenting the life of high profile criminals.

    Family Matters

    Reboot

Thunderbirds – It was on YTV for a brief time in the early 90’s. Usually I saw it on VHS though. (Syndication)

Book Mice (American show about puppet mice living in the walls of an old library)

    Friendly Giant

    The Red Green Show

    Mr. Dressup

    Goosebumps.

That time when Halloween was the Dark Night

    12 O’clock High (Syndication)

    Courage the Cowardly Dog

    Scooby Doo: Where Are You(Syndication)

Uh-Oh. Game show on YTV. Early 90’s. Hosted by a guy with a wacky haircut named Wink Yahoo or something.

Bad Dog – This show was complete crap, but it had it’s moments.

    Todays Special.

    Mr. Rogers Neighborhood

    Archies Weird Mysteries

    The Kids from Room 402

    What a Mess.

    Stickin Around.

Call me a dinosaur but I prefer to live in the past so I can have a good future.

Well some people will shame you for being a “Luddite”, or a “hipster”. I sympathize with you completely. I enjoy the things of the past more than much of the current fare.

Looking at the Retrontario site, I can see how drastically this society has changed in just 25 years and not usually for the better.

Thank you all. This is the most win thread I have ever seen on this site.

I can’t stop thinking about how great Digimon was. It was a show about monsters fighting … but the drama between the human characters was surprisingly well-made.

I’m especially impressed by the people responsible for Matt’s dialogue. Matt was a great character. He was a bit of an asshole, but he genuinely cared for his little brother. It’s hard not to side with him.

Unfortunately, some parts of the show (especially the final epic battle with Apocalymon) were ruined by stupid f~~~ing jokes that weren’t in the original Japanese version.

Additionally, this awesome joke was taken out of the English version.

Tai: Is that how women fight?
Izzy: Yeah, they must slap each other to death!

    LOL

Ren and Stimpy is a show that combines Loony Tunes style cartoon gags with gross-out humor.

It’s as awesome as you would think.
